Okay..
Me and my brother both share a steam login.
It was all first installed under his Windows account.
So, whenever I log in to Steam under MY Windows account, it says Half Life 2 and a few other games are not installed.
Is there any way I can fix this so that I can play from my account without having to switch over to his?

It should show all the games are installed for both accounts. You are using the same steam account, is that correct? Same email to log-in? If thats the case, when you log-in on your windows account it should detect the games bought, and find the game files in the same location.

What may be the problem, is that steam has been installed on his windows account, and he has clicked the option to protect or make the files private on his account, so when you login to steam, all the game files are hidden for you to access (making them unplayable).

Is it possible to install the steam location in a directory accessable by both of you? e.g. C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\steamapps (or something like that).

He could also turn off his privacy protection, and that should do the job.

Was your account created before or after the installation?
Is he admin?
Do you have admin?

im going to follow up on this because he is right. if you created the account after hl2 or w/e steam game you wanted was installed it will not work, because it wasnt installed on the user account. the only way you can get it to work is to install it on the account that wont work.
