I'm looking for software that lets me crop off parts of the beginning or the end of a song. Fade feature would be nice too, but not a requirement. Doesn't need to be anything advanced.

Audacity is good. mp3DirectCut is also good - very lightweight, quicker to load and save than Audacity, slightly easier to work, I find. Fewer features.

Gooooooldwave!

Goldwave.

Ignore posts #2 through #5. You want Goldwave.

Edit: And post #7

Never heard of Audacity before but it has enough positive comments in here for me to try it at some point.

Been using Goldwave for years without an issue so I'm gonna have to ask Virus to explain himself.

I think it was just him being facetious to spite Vegeta. You know, as a joke. Probably.

Also, in terms of absolute simplicity, I really recommend mp3DirectCut. Audacity is an excellent program, but does have a lot of features, and many buttons too.

Been using Audacity for years. It's not exactly fancy or super noob friendly, but once you figure out how to use it, it does a great job and has some powerful tools. I have no need for anything else.

As for Goldwave, well, it's paid software. Admittedly, I only tried the trial momentarily a few years ago before I uninstalled it and found Audacity. It may well be better or worse, I couldn't tell you.

My advice is to stick with what is familiar to you as long as it does what you need.
