Music video for Radiohead's Weird Fishes

Hey there,

My friend and I recently submitted a storyboard animatic to the Radiohead animated music video contest. We didn't make it to the semis, but are still considering working on it over the summer and would love to get some feedback.

The concept is inspired in part from the haunting, forlorn feeling you get when playing darkly themed FPS games such as Half Life, hence my idea to post it here :)

Take a look? thanks!

Pretty cool, even though it's just a storyboard it felt like a really good fit to the song. As long as you keep that minimalistic style and dreamy imagery it should turn out awesome. I also liked the theme of trying to re-capture a fleeting sensation, and how it was represented by repeatedly climbing the stairs and diving into an ocean (right?). In particular, the part at around 2:30 where the drumbeat picks up and the video gets brighter and picks up speed was really cool and fit well with what was happening in the music.

Anyway, it's definitely abstract enough to be a Radiohead video, so I think you should go through with it if you can. Too bad you didn't make the semis though.

Thanks for the comments. Yes you got it right with the stairs and the ocean, except that the ocean itself is nothing more than a figment of the imagination (hence the splatter of paint that turns into water).

We're trying to figure out whether we can get the help we need in order to churn this out during the summer. Animation is very time-consuming and expensive :|
