Musician subforum.

I think it'd be convenient to make a Musician subforum where we promote our songs, albums, and compilations individually, instead of just a massive thread people rarely even check.

In said forum song threads, album threads, and myspace music links appear so we can all comment/rate our music more organizedly.

Well I already know the moderators are going to say NO, simply because as far as they can see our one thread is doing well enough (I actually think it is doing fine. What makes you say people rarely check it? How do you know that?)

I don't think there are near enough musicians on this board to warrant that.

Also, I may or may not be using reverse psychology on the moderators who like to disagree with me to attempt to get this board made.

I kinda agree with both of you. It'd be cool to have a dedicated sub-forum, but I'm not sure the number of musicians we have merits that.

That said, it is kinda annoying to post a new track, and then five days later someone posts one of theirs but you don't get any feedback.

You know there are plenty of forums that are meant for this very thing. WATMM is a well known site with intelligent music makers, and they have a "post your tracks/wips" sub board. http://forum.watmm.com/index.php?showforum=17

You'd get much better comments from people who are actually musicians than in the few musicians and bunch of noobs that are in hl2.net.

While I can appreciate the intent behind this, I can't say I really support it. There simply ain't an audience big enough to warrant it. The topic in WIP topic in the music subforum gets a bit of traffic, but it's not really a constant thing and everything's contained well enough within it.

Besides, the artists themselves can seek out forums that have music production as their focus. I just can't see much coming from HL2.net adding one.

I'd back that. I was kind've interested last month in seeing if there were any other musicians around and what they did. But the only forum I find was related to music. And considering everyone listens to music, and the threads there were not discussing the talents of the aritsts themselves, I gave up.

But if it's popular enough then people will keep it on the front page anyway. Stickying something just means less people are attracted to it, I think.

That said if enough of the musicians here want the thread sticked I'll do it. I just think it's pointless.
