My friend just gave me his MX700 for free. He got it for free from his dad's work and said it worked but the batteries ran out in a day with it fully charged overnight. Now, I just bought new rechargeable batteries today and put them in the mouse. It worked for a little bit then stopped. I then read the battery case and it said batteries need to be charged before they work properly. They are Radioshack 1.2v NiMH batteries.

I looked in the mouse, where you place the batteries, and it said 1.5v.

3 questions:
1. How long should I charge these batteries?
2. Do I need 1.5v batteries for this mouse to actually work, or can it work alone on 1.2v?
3. Do they make 1.5v rechargeable batteries?

Please help as I would like to get this mouse to work.

New problem..

Something is odd. I had this mouse charging the batteries from 3:45 till now and well, it still doesn't work. I try the rechargeables in my remote control for my TV and it worked, but when I tried with my mouse nothing. I then was like let me see something, and I put the non-rechargeables in the mouse and it worked perfectly.

Is there a reason why this mouse does not take rechargeable batteries? Please help me. As I do not want to let a $70 mouse that I got for free go to waste.

It comes with NiMH batteries out of the box (which are rechargable). The one you have is used so I dunno.

I still have the original batteries in mine and they are 1.2v 1700MAh NiMH batteries.

See the thing is, my friend bought new rechargeable batteries for it and they died from not being able to charge them, but the thing is he said the mouse worked a couple times when the rechargeables were in. I have 1.2v 2000MAh NiMH rechargeables from RadioShack and they work in my TV remote so thats not it. I don't think the mouse is able to take rechargeables very well or the base is not able to charge them or recognize them.

Glad to see you again Asus.

Just check the power cord, battery +/- and keep fiddling with it. Maybe hit the reset button on the mouse or something.

I have tried all of those possible solutions. Nothing.

Is it possible my product is defective? If so is there anyway I can get a new one since I don't have a receipt for it?

if u press the scroll button (on my mouse the middle button), and its over a link, it opens the link ina new tab.

It doesn't work like that in Firefox. It is the only program that won't let me use the scroll button. Could someone please help me with that?

Also, I think I figured out it was a charger problem, maybe. That is what the company said. I am going to call to see if I can purchase a new charger.

Bump. I want to use the scroll button, but its still not letting me.
