[I'm not staring at the actual wave names... you'll get the point.]

I have rain going. (Play Everywhere, water_dam, volume 1)
A civ squriming on the ground. (from civ, cry, volume 10)
And a metrocop then walks over, looks down, chuckles at him, and taunts him. (Some long-winded jiberish about prosecution.)

The rain is at one, but it is louder than my volume 10 cry. (This one I kind of understand, it is a really soft sound file, even in preview.) But the one that bugs me even more is the Metrocop's line. That one plays at a decent volume in my previewer, then even at max of 10 and standing RIGHT NEXT to the cop, the line is very very subdued. (Similar to maybe a volume 3 or 4.)

Is there any way to boost the volume levels? thx.

If my orignal question about various ambient_generic's can't be answered. (Adjusting volume past 10, or some effect equivilant...) How about this then: Is there another way to play sounds?

Thanks.

env_soundscapes (I posted more on that topic in another thread on these boards)

There are no other ways than that though. And Soundscapes aren't customizable, you can only use the onces in your HL2 or CSS gcf (respectivly), unless you're making your own mod of course.

Okay. I know which post you're talking about, because I almost asked this question in that thread... Thanks for your time.

There is a way to make youre own soundscapes but it can give conflicts with maps later on.

But I know Valve is thinking to allow/make a way to have your own soundscapes.

some sort of file you include with your map via bspzip or something. It wouldnt be that hard for valve to implement.
