So i have been working on a little architectural project were i designed a futuristic concept of a college dorm building. I tried to do something obscure and maybe it came out a bit TOO obscure (rooms defying the laws of gravity). I did everything EXEPT the furniture models, i made the materials for them though. I used Revit and 3Ds Max, used Mental Ray for renderings. I procastinated a lot with this project, which might be obvious looking at the renders, i kind of rushed it at the end because of the deadline. I sent it into an online compertition (US Dodds PTS expo, a compertition within all American high schools in Europe) and i came first place :D I also rushed together a computer animation portfolio that i sent into the competition which came 3rd place, it wasnt that great tbh but if you really want i might upload that too.

10 Stories high, 32 dorm rooms total holding 2 students each, 16 total full bathrooms, computer lab, cafeteria.

Thoughts?

Awesome. But might I suggest wired keyboards and mice to minimize accidental falls and there will be obvious conflicts with IR/Bluetooth connections with so many computers. Also, many people have rational fears of height, so forcing them to work next to a window like that may be slightly discouraging.

Seems like a very wasteful and inefficient way to dorm kids, though. Not to mention the building costs and so forth! I'm not an engineer or anything but isn't it kind of unsafe to put a room larger than the base on the top of the building?

Looks cool, though. Futuristic.

Thx for comments :)! Good points, i guess its a college for super rich kids, and the building is made out of some yet un-discovered super material that are able to hold the weights of the rooms ;)

You're right, it's not safe.
