I was on break from work, in my car, listening to some music. Well, I usually take a nap. But this song I have on CD came on..it's a classical piano and soudns to it..some soft parts, some really powerful parts..anyway.

I fell asleep, and in my dream, it was a bf2 video. Here are the ideas.

It starts off with a strong low chord from the piano. That could be the name of the video with a black background. With the music coming back, that title fades away, and you see a bunch of USMC guys in a field *probably Shaqi, outside by the MEC base in the middle..the field there. They are all bouncing around, having fun. One guy backs up a bit. Then the strong piano hits. Thats when they friends of the one guy gets MOWED...slaughtered. They had no idea. They guy runs. Soft music hits, he found a place to hide. The music starts to work its way up to stronger, and its the guy sneaking up on a MEC, reaxcy to kill him and take his gun. music goes really soft, memory sequence of his friends dying. Kills guy to take engineer kit..shotguns rule.

Some extra powerful music comes..strong beats every 1/2 second or so. Thats him killing a guy or a grenade blowing up next to him, something. Music will go soft again, and he will find another place to hide. Well, the strong piano/musical will hit *the 1/2 second beats again* and it will be of a bunch of MEC shooting. and the music goes extra soft..for an ending. the camera is panning up from the good guys face, and he is dead....laying on the ground..camera spinnign while going up.

What do you guys think so far, anybody want to help me? I think imma need quite a few people...10-20ish?

Copy/paste into URL and you got yourself the song.

Like said on AIM, that the slow bits are a bit too slow for bf2, but I think the more strong heavy parts would be good.

The slow points will signify something. Memory sequences/hiding/something. It makes sense in my head damnit!

yeah, my next 2 days off are Fri/Saturday. I really need to draw/type/...something up about how I would like this to go. I need to know if someone can play bf2 on medium/high settings and run FRAPs at the same time. Though I would love to do it, I can't..my computer plays low settings BF2 alone fine. Hell I get shitty frames on 8x6 res Stepmania....yeah..woo. Anyway yeah, lets hear some shit.

Alright, I just finished the "mock up" of the script. It's a rough draft so far. Comments are welcome.

Obviously the times at the start of the lines are the time into teh song. if you need the song for download, and the putfile version doesn't suit your needs, supply me with an FTP or something to upload it to *both of my sites aren't up right now...* and I'll be happy to. Just PM me or add my MSN/AIM/Yahoo, or Xfire and let me know *use xfire as a last ditch effort though...*

Start: Title of video. Black Background, fades to game.

5 seconds: USMC ~10 Jumping gleefully. Having Fun. Knifes in the air.

9 seconds: 1 USMC soldier backs off to enjoy the sights of his best friends and the

fun.

15 seconds: Bullets rip through the USMC

17 seconds: shift camera angles to enemy MEC/China

20 seconds: Last living USMC friend runs to hide

23 seconds: Finds cover

30 seconds: saddened by the death of his comrades, he finds a lone enemy, ready to kill.

35 seconds: starts moving in

41 seconds: memory sequence of friends

51 seconds: Soldier runs to get weapon off enemy.

54: kills enemy. - Probably an Assault. Can switch up between the GP-30/202 and the assault rifle.

60 seconds: runs to hide

1:02 finds a place

1:04 gets caught, must fight

1:06 gunfire ensues, running, killing

1:18 more bullet dodging, killing, running

1:29 killing faster, faster running *up speed of video slightly?*

1:34 Add explosion, find soldier, charge at soldier.

1:35 pause before killing soldier. -> turn black&white video?

1:36 memory sequence of friends

1:42 close up of enemy face/knife/weapon ready to kill. Emphasise.

1:44 kill enemy.

1:45 pan out to mass enemy line ~10

1:46-1:52 Every beat switch to another guy shooting.

1:55 Start close up on face. While spinning clockwise, back off on friendlies dead

corpse.

Sounds good
So far Sharqi Penninsula sounds like the map I'm wanting to use on this. Have the startin of it out in the field to the outside of the MEC middle starting base....that sounds ideal IMHO... And with teh buildings/rocks spewed everywhere...that might work well. + the roofs... :D

wow, I just found out if you save the web page, you get the song as an MP3 format. Sweet. So yeah, you want teh song on your HDD, just save the damned webpage.

Boy I'm slow.

I'll partake :P You have my xfire.

I dunno if my comp can run fraps or now while bf2 is running. Are you talking about 32 or 64 player map size? I'll give it a test in a bit.

hit me up on xfire if you need more actors.

I would do it...if I didn't ****ing uninstall it to reinstall it and then run over the disc by accident with my ****ing chair. I really don't want to go out and buy it again.

Yay, more people pointlessly killing each other in a machinima.

I'm up for it anyways. I'll keep checking back here for a date/time/server. I have xfire but it chrashes all the time.

Do you know a server where the battlefield recorder actually works? The one's i've been on can't download the file from the server.

That actually almost made me cry. :(

You know you can just download it from bittorrent and use the CD key you still have? You wouldn't have to crack it, and you still have ownership over it.

It crossed my mind, but bittorrent always goes painfully slow for me at least. I'll give it a go anyways. Thanks :)

How about doing a 24 style short film? You could do all those events you listed but in real time, with mult-angle shots and a timer at the bottom :D

*drools*....

Well I tested out fraps and with everything cranked to high and aa on 4x with fraps running 30fps full size it doesn't work too well. Half-size works fine but I'd say you're better off trying to find a good server with battlerecorder running so you don't need a cameraman during the video. Not to mention it'll make the video a lot better being able to float around anywhere and slow time down etc.

You could compile the camera actions and sound then send the camera file and the demo to somebody that could run it on high and then they could make the actual video file.

EDIT: TIIMMYY...24 rules and I've been thinking about a video like that...but that would be hard as hell...not to mention I have no video editing software to work something like that.

Now explain a "24 style short film" I don't get it.

And dont crank it ALL on high. The AA/AF stuff doesn't need to be up. Just high textures/geometry/lighting/etc. The game looks pretty good on overall medium quality.

And wtf is battle recorder? Is it just a demo?

Having in-game cameramen would be incredibly stupid.

Plus, if we use battlerecorder we can all get our own copy of the demo and do our own thing with it if we want.

EDIT: Cyber, battlerecorder is a demo playback/edit tool where you can move the camera around and slow down time. I strongly suggest you learn how to play with it before you plan on filming anything.

And plus, for the sake of file size, you might as well film it in 800 x 640 with everything on high, since you would probably shrink it for internet distribution in any case.

A "24" syle film would take the same take on timing and editing as the show "24" does.

The show is an hour long and each show is one hour of a day. Events occur in real time. Mulitple frames are used sometimes to show multiple angles of the same action or different action (for transitions) in different places. Every so often to remind the viewer or going into and coming out of commercial breaks, the time appears showing everyone that the clock is ticking.

I Dont think we need the "24" thing for a 3-4 minute video D:

And I'm sure I can play with battle recorder sometime, when i figure out how... Cant be TOO difficult. Gotta be some tutorial around for it.

There's really no need for a tutorial, it's exactly like spectating in CS except you can slow/speed up time and pause. In order to record from it (to get a video file), all you need is an outside application like FRAPS.

I have
Amish Slayer, kaf11, The Someone, Suicidal Pacifist, Disturbed, TTIIMMYY, DESSTROYER, shakermaker
8. I'm..like 1/3 the way there. I got a couple other communities thinking about it, so we'll see ;(

Yeah, that would be nice to know.

And a script maybe so I can start learning my lines, hehehe.

Machinima audio comes during post-editing in case you weren't joking.

Saturday sounds good, this is gonna be a lot of fun :D.

You don't want my stupid dutch (or 'duts' as we would pronounce it) accent in the movie anyway ....

That was the script I had planned out *from teh first page...*

yeah..D:

Saturday is still the date ;)

*EDIT*

HOLY SHIT. I just ran FRAPs...ready to test it out and shit. And without even REALIZING it, it was recording *my start button is Page UP..I voted yes for forgiving a guy.... yeah.*

I was like.."Ohh, cool, 45 FPS. *play play play...*
After I finshed, I closed the game, forgot to activate FRAPs...so I thought. Look on my desktop, and my 2 gig file was there! WOOO. I was amazed. I jumped the first 4 options in video mode *terrain/geometry/shit like that* up to medium, gonna try it again.

If you still need actors I could take part

It depends on the time you want to record this at. I'm from Europe, so is Shakermaker and a few other people.

Hmmm...I was thinking from 3 PM - 9 PM CST. I guess we could try to do it later if needed...but yeah, post what times you people CAN NOT do it... K? It is Saturday, so I don't think too many problems should occur.

Here's an idea. Anybody else that I have not listed *exclusion of you Unfocused.* Email me with the header "BF2 Video" so I don't just delete it as spam.

Thanks ;)
