here are the specs i know:

1 gig of ram (2 cards of512 megs)
radeon 9000 128 meg AGP
p4 2.53 GHZ

i dont know that my motherboard is or how to get that information, i use my openGL rendering and it still lags sometimes in half life 1. can someone help me out to speed up my system? also what upgrades should i purchase to run half life 2 all pretty? (money IS an issue)

thanks in advance

Well that totally sucks. YOu should try running in D3D not OGL. See if that helps.

Just a new vid card would doo the trick. If money is an issue a 9600XT should be good enough. You could also make money back by selling ur old one.

umm...vid card pronto quick status, if you want it to look perty at least (go ATI if you plan on playing mainly HL2). If you want it to look scantily clad (??) or mid to low range keep your system. As to why it lags on HL1? Got me there you should be running it just fine. :monkee:

That is a really good system for Half Life 2, apart from your video card. Get a 9600 XT or a 9800 pro and you're set.

Try running HL2 is D3D mode, also make sure you have all the latest drivers for your video card and chipset.

when i run it on d3d, it doesnt fit the screen right, the left side has a big black bar going down it and it looks like its using interlaced refresh (which looks like shit) yeah anyway, so ill probably get a new vid card or something. no point buying it until hl2 is released when the cards will be cheaper and ill have more money.

If the 9600XT is still a little to much for you, don't get a 9600SE or 9200 but rather a 9600pro 128mb.
