I just recently acquired my AMD Athlon XP 2600+, also with a motherboard, M7VIP Pro. The 2600+ is rated at 2.13ghz, I am sure of this, and mine on my computer is running 1.5ghz. So what might be the problem with it? Power Supply? Jumpers? Me and my father cannot figure it out, that is why I seek out help on here, lol. So if you have any info or need any more info on the PC please reply, I want to get this to its full potential for my gaming :D

thanks in advance!

...is a neuro-net processor, a learning computer. Sorry I love the arnold prank calls.

Well seeing as you didn't state the problem you are encoutering, I don't think many people are going to be able to help you.

Yea definately need to give us more info on what problems your facing. How far along with the boot up does it go? What kind of beeps? Anything like that.

yar! - dunno what staddy and co are talking about, but you my friend can find your problem within the treasure trove of the BIOS. Find cpu clock spped somewhere in there and bump it up. Watch those temps!

It boots up, loads everything, just the cpu is sticking @ 1.5ghz, supposed to be 2.13ghz, I am thinking bios or jumpers, but I was also looking to see what you gamers have to offer as a suggestion, because I know you guys are more knowledgeable then me.....The computer turns on, runs Win2K, everything fine, just wanted to know why/how I can turn it up.

There have been 3 types of 2600+ so far. The one out right now is actually a Barton and runs at 1.9ghz.
166mhz FSB X 11.5 multiplier = 1.9ghz

If your board is not set to 166mhz but to 133mhz FSB.
133mhz FSB X 11.5 multiplier = 1.5ghz

Make sure you set the jumper or setting in bios so it is running at 166mhz(333) FSB.

ahh I need to change to 166 in bios then the jumpers...But I don't have the barton, to my knowledge, its the 2.13 ghz one.

It is indeed the barton, I found out it was jumpers yesturday, fixed it, running @ 1.9ghz now, I am extremely happy, I need to get a case fan then I can run 175 @ 2.012mhz, which will be good for gaming I hope.
