Well, within the last 15 hours I have flown from Norfolk, VA to Bahrain. Stops have been made in Naples Italy, and Souda Bay Creta(In Greece). I must say, it's quite an experience to see such places. Downtown Bahrain is flashy and I'm enjoying the view from my hotel. This is great.

I just thought I'd share this with you, guys. It's really awesome. My ship is supposedly the best, or on of the best, in the 7th fleet. We make constant visits to Australia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan and many other places. I can't wait to head to home port; Kyushu Sasebo, Japan.

:O Well hello there Mr Valkyrie.

Nice to see you posting around here again. I'd join the navy but...you know...I really don't feel like it.

That's the first Juneau, that was sunk by a Japanese sub.

Just go to google and look up USS JUNEAU and the home site should pop up. I don't remember what it is, though.

Oooh, Japan. Bring me back some Sake...

...on second thoughts don't, it tastes quite foul.

My cousin is stationed in Calif. right now, in about 2 weeks he is going out to Hawaii, then Japan, then Iraq for 2 weeks, and I forgot the rest. Traveling around like that would be awesome, get to see so much of the world and all.

Yeah, but I'm actually in Bahrain as I said before. Can't wait to get to t3h j4pan...been waiting a long time for this.
It's pretty cool. You get paid between 500 and 600 extra a month for being stationed in Sasebo. 50 extra a month for being on sea duty, and 150 - 200 extra for being in the gulf. And my pay is taxfree for being out of the US. So, all that on top of my reg. pay is about 1800 a month.
I'm only an E-2 also.

Beign stationed in Yokusaka gets you 1,500 - 2,000 extra a month.

Just found out our flag ship is being replaced by her sister ship. Which means it's likely my ship will be going to Japan along with her. Our flag ship is the USS ESSEX.
