My domain just expired. According to my webhost the domain provider refused to respond to enquires about domain renewal and he left the domain to expire. My webhost replaced my .com domain with a .net one, but now I'll have to migrate everything over from one site to the other. It's going to be a bloody nightmare, I have to change all my newsletter and mailing list subscriptions and inform all my contacts of my email change and migrate all my msn contacts over to my new email. And I hate .net domains, they sound amateurish. DAmmit.

lol...you posted that bit on the right site

BAH! I love my .net domain name... i just switched domain names too a few days ago, but it wasnt a huge problem since i didn't really use the email or forwarding much.

What does it actually matter if it's .com or .net or .org, as far as I know people from all over the world can still reach your site.

I just dont like the sound of it...

Did someone buy the .com one as soon as it expired? If not, why don't you just buy it again?

Good question, I'll ask the webhost.

Most domain registries will hold your domain for 40 days after it expires, to ensure it doesn't get bought if you plan on renewing, so I doubt they sold it.

OMG, your insulting this sites domain!! :flame: :flame:

Im cool with all domain types, .com, .co.uk, .org, .net, ****

All porn sites should just be .xxx. I mean, I don't really think it's fair to enforce it, but I think those sites should start to show the world that they actually have some decency after all. There wouldn't half the problems there are today with the internet if you could just block the .xxx suffix from your router.

then it would also be easier to censor the internet...and ban porn altogether by forcing isps not to support .xxx domain names
