Sorry if this was posted before.
So I d/led the 380MB Steam/CS1.6 file and Steam is actually working ok now. But whenever I try to play CS, it freezes.
If I try to join a server through Steam's "Server" menu, CS launches (the new screen with two CTs comes up) and I get the message "Establishing Network Connection to Server" and my PC freezes. This isn't like other Steam freezes in that this time, my entire PC freezes. Ctrl-Alt-Del doesn't even work.
So I tried something else. Ran CS from Steam's menu ("Launch Program") and the main CS menu came up, as it should. I found I could play around with all the settings, and exit the program, but when I clicked on "Servers" it froze right up again. No "Establishing Network Connection to Server" message, it just stopped completely.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
This is probably more of a CS error than Steam, but I d/led them together so I'm asking this here.
Almost forgot: Both programs (CS and HL) are set to auto update as necessary and both are supposedly fully updated according to Steam. Its not trying to update anything at any time.
