sometimes my fan goes really fast then slow and repeats the same process.

its disturbing because i thought it would explode and ran away from it as quickly as possible only to return after an hour.

could anyone help? thanks.

What fan are you talking about? The CPU? Case? PSU? GPU? Southbridge? WC? Lol because there could be a temperature sensor linked up to the voltage controller which I had on my Thermaltake Volcano CPU cooler - unfortunately I broke the wire. Also i had one voltage rail getting the power sucked out of it like mad - and my cold cathode neons used to dim when my CD drives were in use, hehe. That could be the same as your situation, there might be not enough voltage supplied when the PC goes intensive.

LOL
buy a new one...

i'm sorry but, BUMP

oh and i think its the PSU's fan

do southbridges come with fans? mine doesnt even have a heatsink

some have fans some heatsinks ,old mobos dont have..

but mines the Asus P4P800E Deluxe, the Northbridge has Heatsink (which gets in way of installing Arctic Cooler rev 3), but southbridge is completely exposed.

well, could anyone help?

note: i have a program for virtual cd drives that makes the computer think that it actually has 2 cd drives while only having one. do you think that this caused my fan's craziness?

They have Northbridges but the memory controller is removed. Still a Northbridge though. The nForce boards have an all-in-one chip which includes the North and Southbridge chips.

How many watts and brand of your Powersupply? What kind of stuff do you have in your system? Turn your PC off and try clearing it of dust. Same with your CPU heatsink.

Thats kinda what i meant, but I saw some places where they labelled it as a southbridge, since apparently the northbridge's main functions had been moved to the CPU (well the memory controller). Which means the AGP controller and things have been moved to the southbridge 'all in one chip' now has to cope with more work, hence the larger heat emission. Either way we are both right :D

now i'm confused...........

i have a next-to-no idea what youre talking about.

i would appreciate it if you could explain a bit. thanks.
