My fan won't turn on.

Hey guys, bit of a problem here. My cpu fan won't turn on! What can it be?
Also, I'm runing my comp with out the fan, is that dangerous for my pc?

ps: Please don't send this to hardware untill I have an answer please.

Hmm... did it get disconnected from the powersupply? If not that, there's always the chance that the motor died...

I forgot to add that it didn't get disconected and I tried it with another fan and it still won't work.

I wouldn't do much on the comp until you got it fixed...

You can't be serious.

Btw, I fully support Ikerous's new sig.

Damn you. This proves how much I need my internet dose.

My guess is that you'd be fine just surfing the internet and listening to music. I would'nt try playing any games or doing anything CPU intensive until you get that fixed.

Thanks, up to now it seems fine. But I wont dare checking metacafe or playing music.

I suggest you defrag, and while you're waiting run adaware and microsoft virus scan
Those might fix your problem.

Seriously, I'd be VERY careful if not just turning the PC off.

While compressing video and playing Oblivion.

Uhh...try plugging it into a different PSU cord or does it plug into the mobo? Try to plug it into the mobo if you can and just try different things. If it doesn't work with a different fan then something is very wrong.

Why don't you just replace the CPU fan?

Its cheap, reliable and you are always safe in the knowledge in won't kapow in you face

what kind of CPU is it.....if its a pentium it'll throttle itself down speedwise if it gets to toasty....but I dunno about an AMD.....

I'm not really sure about AMD. I've seen videos where they take the heatsink and fan off and it just fries. They did the same to an Intel and it just quit, but no damage to the chip. The heatsink is still on so technically the heat is coming off from the CPU but it's not being blown off so the heat is just staying in the heatsink which can't be good.
