my first attempt at uvw mapping

i asked about texturing a gun, a while ago, and ppl gave me some help, but this is the best i could do.

It is hard cuz u have to be really good at ps, which i am just have to get good at making metal, and alligning it right.
 
Do you have a picture of the UVW map itself and the model with it on to see how you did with it?
 
You got a higher res pic? That's really blurry and hard to see the texturing. So far it looks ok though.
 
if you want crits on your UV mapping you need to post the UV map .. how else can we crit it ;)
 
yeah i am posting it soon, i am at school now, so prob either late tonight or saturday. and yeah i am trying to figure out how to get higher res renders for 3ds max 6, i just have to switch my global settings and stuff.
 
When you open the rendering window, near the top there should be a section where you can change the resolution, by either typing in the numbers, or clicking the buttons to the right. Make it 800x600, select the perspective viewport, turn the view so it's facing the model at a slight angle from the front, and zoom it in all the way so it takes up the entire image, and render, then do it from the back corner, etc.
