my flashlight doesn't work in half life 2

i am not able to play this game ,my flashlight doesn't show.

On a more serious note what are your system specs?( Processor, ram ,Graphics card etc) Without these we cant help you.

Or make sure your keyboard bindings are correct in Options, Keyboard from the main menu. Those flashlights really need a battery upgrade...

Still an annoying problem though, I'm sure.

I dunno, try verifying cache files n stuff.

I don't think the ground should even be that dark in the first place. But yea I see that the flash light is severely borked.

Only thing I can suggest other than upgrading your hardware is to update drivers/try lowering settings more...

Okay, what you should first do is to run the game without the autoexe file( Just cut and paste it somewhere else) cause I see u are using some commands which might potentially screw up the lighting.(and the physics too)

Even if you have the crappiest machine you do not need to turn all these settings off. I guess you have been going through a console commands list and turning off everything that might seem like a resource hog. Most of the time HL2 turns them off by itself( and it keeps the ones that are important on)

first try what I said earlier in the post. See if that works.

Check under the HL2 options what DirectX level your hardware supports. I had the exact same problem on my old PC (on-board gfx card) - the flashlight only illuminated objects. If it's dx7 or lower, that may be the problem.

The only solution is a better graphics card.

we need info about your pc which you still havent told us; before we are able to help you. Do you know the model of your pc?

processor-intel pentium 4 2.8 ghz,:cheese:
ram-512 mb ram ddr 400(hyniz)
graphics-onboard intel 82845g with upto date drivers i think they are enough to run this game at low settings also check a screenshot on page 1 of my flashlight.
as for the model it is compaq 1235il i don't know how the model is going to help and if you need more i have a 17 inch moniter :angel:

Okay a guy had a similar problem in episode 1 and the following commands worked for him.

r_dynamic 1
r_shadows 1
r_newflashlight 0

If this doesnt work... well you might have to give up. But really I never needed the flashlight when I played HL2.. Needed it for episode 1, but not for HL2.

from looking at your computer model which helped me the most. You are able to use an Agp graphics card. Try the thing above though if that helps you.

hey guys i used the same solution and it worked but only once, the next time i ran the game it didnt work,
PS i added the commands to my config.cfg and saved it.
