My game..is region locked? Is there anything I can do?

So let me cut it short.

I bought the game in India for 1000 rupees (original). I was staying there for about a month, so I installed and activated it on my cousins computer and played it. When I came back to my country, and tried to install via the CD and Steam, it said that the game cannot be installed in my region.

Is there anything I can do? Will Valve actually give any support for this kind of issue. Obviously, the game shop would not want it back..

Based on precedent, no, Valve probably won't help you. The game is region locked to prevent people buying it at cheaper rates.

Must be a India-publishing thing, I've heard US copies activated in Aus work fine for example.

I've never heard of Steam region-locking gamaes, let alone Valve themselves doing it.

Edit: I mean a steam key from one place not working in another. I know that some publishers on Steam don't sell outside of the US because they hate making money.
