I need a compromise! They wont stop! I just bout an Altec L. headset with mic , the mic works fine but I have a problem: the heaphones plug into the same plug as my Creative 2.1 speakers do , so its either one or the other right now. Do they make a Y-connector that would work for me? Would it not compromise the quality of either one , like if I turn up the heaphone volume the main volume goes down , that way its not leeching normally (I had an old headset that did this , but it was huge). Thanks for anyhelp!

Quality, not so much.
Although it probably will affect volume.

Thanks for the help but I think that is way too big , 1/4" jacks are huge , and it says home stereo.

It's the same plug. It's designed to fit headphones, headphones have the same male plugs as speakers (unless you're doing bare-wire to bare-wire), but in the case of a headset and 2.1 speakers, this is what you want.

If you have onboard sound you could hook the speakers into that. I don't use speakers nearly as much as headphones. Otherwise a Y connector sounds like the only option. Don't whatever you do stick the headphones in the speakers and the speakers into the comp - the sound quality will decrease dramatically.

Ok cool , thanks , the picture makes the connector look huge. I think I have to take these back tommorow and get Logitec ones from EB , I dont like the mic on these and the Logitec ones are cool. Ill probably still have to do the same thing though so this still helps.

Make sure to ask them at radio shack if that's the right ones for what you're looking for. I tried to do the same thing and it killed one channel on both sides. So the headphones only got one ear and only the left speakers worked.

Then i said "F - it" and bought the Audigy 2, then since i had the Audigy 2 i had to buy 5.1 surround sound speakers, and since i had the cool front thing i had to buy a new case with more front bays. And since i was buying a new case i had to get the cool looking one with the LED lights and the great fans. So in the end, trying to get those headphones to work cost me roughly 450 bucks. But man, was it worth it :)
