This is the computer i'm about to buy tomorrow, hopefully it should all come together to make a full system. (already got a monitor)

I was wondering if I have missed anything though?

I want to be able to put all this together and not need to buy anything else. Also do I need to buy all the cables or will they come with the components?

All help greatly appreciated.

Scotty

looks like ur not missing anything, and when i built mine all i needed was a power bar. oh and btw u dont have speakers, but that's optional i guess.

looks good...

everything there looks more than capable of handling HL2 (and any other current game, for that matter), if that's what you're trying to do.

And whether or not you'll have everything you need depends on where you're getting this stuff from. Are you buying it pre-assembled from a manufacturer, or are you getting all the components seperately and putting it together yourself?

If you're getting them seperately, you will most likely get all the necessary cables included with the components, assuming that you're buying them in their original retail packaging.

And yeah, speakers are important, too. Or headphones.

Sounds good, where are you getting this from? I might be suspicious of the RAM and it's quality. Also, if you're putting this together and it's your first time building a computer, you might want to get a better case. It is surprising how much a good case can affect how easy it is to put together your computer. Any big brand name case company like Cooler Master, Lian Li, Antec, Chieftec, etc. will be much easier to put together than something you've never heard of.

Another thing, I've never really been a fan of Via chipsets. So if I were you I would go with something like the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum or, if you have the money, you could get the new nForce4 powered Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe.

OK thanks for the advice!

Yeah I plan to use headphones and headphones only.

I am getting this from aria.co.uk, and all should be in their original packaging. I plan to put it together myself.

My main concern is whether it will actually work! If u can spot any problems please tell me.

Thanks for your help.

Make sure you order the 939 socket board, ASUS makes 2 of those boards and one is a 754 board. CHECK BEFORE ORDERING!

how much are you paying for all of it?
you mite be able to find a better deal

One rather major thing is obvious to me here:

Your motherboard is AGP8x and your GFX card [changed to remove advertisement] is PCI-E. You'll need to find a motherboard with a PCI-E slot or change your GFX card to an XT-PE (which is AGP) for everything to work (and fit for that matter).

I'm paying approximately £900 for all that stuff.

As it happens the Graphics card is AGP 8x but thanks for reminding me! That could have been nasty.

Yup the motherboard is 939!

Thanks guys!

Then you're not getting an x800 XT - you're getting a x800XT-PE. Only the PE (platinum edition) has an AGP connector.

Make sure you know the facts before correcting someone. There are X800XTs with an AGP bus.

Then they are XT-PEs - the only difference between the XT and the XT-PE is the interface used (and therefore the obvious differences in the power circuitry), and a slight clock bump to make sure people spending top dollar can actually see a difference between cards.

Frankly, whatever 3rd party manufacturers decide to call their cards is irrelevant - according to ATI, an XT-PE is AGP (and PCI-Express, although, again, none of these are made by ATI and only by 3rd parties) and the XT is PCI-Express. Going by that logic, if we look at ATI's page here, you'll see that "RADEON® X800 XT" does not appear under the heading "AGP bus configuration (8X/4X/Universal AGP 3.0)".

I think it is therefore appropriate to end with this quote:

Bah. Sorry for being an ass, I was just going by what Newegg told me.

Actually ATI has come out with an X800XT that is not a X800XT PE and it's priced at 450 instead of 499$ MSRP. Don't be so nitpicky. It's a different card and runs at different speeds. Sure it's the same chip and just a variation of the XT PE but we could call the X800Pro (Vivo) cards X800XT PE's by that definition (except the bios) then too.

It has a 20MHz lower core speed and about 100mhz lower memory speed (going from memory) which is not much of a performance difference.

Now right when ATI released the X800 cards, there were cards labeled X800XT without the PE label yet they indeed ran at XT PE speeds.
