my internet troubles

okay one day i was talking on AOL instant messanger and my internet browser (IE 6.0) and steam stopped working; however, even though they werent working, my AIM still worked. I then restarted my computer, when it rebooted none of my internet worked. I figured this had to be a software issue i messed around with the options (when my internet did work it was on auto detect LAN settings cuz im on a network). I couldnt get it to work, so then i just got an old network card out from my closet, installed it and let windows do my drivers for the computer again and now my internet all works except on a few things...
1. I cant go to google, it always says page not found 2. I can go to yahoo but i cant seach. I can do everthing on yahoo (login, etc.) but not search 3. on msn i can do everything but search

the one website i have found i can search with is metacrawler; however, i hate it, can someone help me with this issue. if you need more info just ask and ill try to answer

if u have a router, reset it
if u have windows xp, disable ur NIC, then enable it

Also check to make sure your DNS servers are set back to dynamic.
