In the two months I've been here, I have been one of the larger contributers to these forums. You might recall threads such as "Valve, appease our consumerism", my stickied synopsis of hl2.php, and the long lasting HL:S thread "Why do we have to wear these ridiculous ties",. among making thousands of other contributions to the threads here, mostly in a thoughtfull and appropriate manner.
Now I was once a forum moderater myself, at the highly sucessfull "XboxHacker.Net", and I know that doing the right thing is not always easy. Still, I would always err on the side of acceptance.
Two issues recently have called into question the judgement of the staff here at HL2.net.
First is the closure of the 'E' thread. This was a rather enjoyable challenging word game. It did not harm anyone, and we did not contribute for the sake of 'postcounts'. That thread made for clever and playfull interaction. However, certain mods, percieving it as "spam", decided to close it. To these mods I would challenge them to actually contribute to the thread to see that it is not verbal diarrhea, but a test of vocabulary. When I took issue, the response I got was "those are the rules". But it was not the therad itself, but the mods interpretation of it, that violated these rules.
The second is the closure of Bush: Crazed Arsonist?, a thread of my creation. This thread was clearly a joke. So why was it closed, when Definition of a Terrorist: Liberal Democrat remains open? Is there truly unchecked political bias in the HL2.net staff?
