Hey Guys Lone Wolf here (Previously Vectyr)

Action figures! That's right, starting a collection starting with characters from Final Fantasy, my first, Zack Fair arrived yesterday:

over 20 points of articulation, sword is able to fit to his back and 9" tall. Will be getting Kadaj tomorrow, will post pics if anyone's interested.

All very good quality direct from Square Enix.

I remember when I used to play Dragon Quest II and III for the Gameboy. Square Enix made some great games.
 
my other hobby besides games is building small robots. that and collecting movies/books/games.
 
How Darkside once screwed Square Enix

I got them to sell me a Kingdom Hearts Sora promotional figure. There is ONE of it. It will never be mass-produced. It will never be remolded. I purchased the only one in existence.

For $40.

Back when I was a very rich man, throwing around my video game journalist money at a convention, I spied a Playarts KH2 Sora I had never seen before. It wasn't one of his official forms; it was a promo piece safely protected within a glass case. I hailed one of the employees and talked to him about it. Having a friend who's a massive KH fan who wasn't able to attend the convention, I inquired as to how much the figure would be. He weedled a little bit, saying, "Oh, it's not for sale..."

At which point I said to him, "You don't understand. Money is no object to me." In truth, I was ready to drop a grand or so on it; I had, after all, almost made a deal with SOTA toys that same weekend to buy the prototype Lord Raptor figure from Darkstalkers that was never produced, and likely never will be produced because their license with Capcom is up.

So the guy looks at me, and so full of confidence was I when I said those words he couldn't deny me. He had no doubts that this man in front of him seriously was about to drop mad money for an action figure. So he says to me, "We have to display it until the end of the convention. Come back at closing on the last day."

I did.

That man wasn't there. Instead, it was his coworker.

"I'm here to purchase that Sora," I said. "I was told to come back today." The coworker calls up the other man (who I assume was his superior), and I hear over the phone, "Yeah, sell it to him."

*CLICK*

There was no price. The man on the phone hadn't said how much to sell it for. He hadn't even given his coworker an estimate. The price was completely open.

"How much were you looking to spend?" the man asks me.

"How much are those?" I ask, indicating some boxed Playarts Sora figures on the wall. I knew how much they were worth. I was gauging this guy.

"Those are $28," he says.

"I'll give you $40 for this one."

FUCKING SOLD

And that's how one of my best friends ended up with a Sora that no one else will ever have, and how I totally screwed Square Enix.
 
Nice buy. You into kingdom hearts? the KH sephiroth figure looks good.
 
The Sephiroth is pretty cool. A different friend than the one I mentioned has him and the KH Cloud. Even in just a standing pose, the Sephiroth looks really cool.

The only KH figure I have is Halloween Sora, which I bought to go along with all my Nightmare Before Christmas figures.

What, for the figure I got? Probably like $1200. Prototypes, gray sculpts, and 2up figures are usually around that price.

in other words.

Too bad its a corperate fee and the sculpter probably got paid far less than that :p
 
FF VII Advent Children - Kadaj figure.

New figure arrived today, though the online site i bought it from messed up and sent + charged me for two, no biggy though.

I love this one, very detailed and the material coat is great. Advent Children 9" Sephiroth figure now on it's way.

He looks pretty cool. I might consider picking him up in the way, way, waaaay future. What store did you buy him from online? Hope you get that second charge sorted out.

Also, this could've gone into the other figure thread. Just a heads up.

He's my favorite for childhood nostalgia...

Recently they released one of those bullshit things where if you buy x amount of figures, they each come with a part to build another figure. Well the figure you could build was the big bulky Dark Trooper from DF1.
I was pissed.
 
Lol, welcome to Hasbro.

All Star Wars toys (aside from the unleashed series) have generally crappy detail. That however, is actually one of their more detailed figures in comparison.

I never, ever understood why they kept changing Katarn's lightsaber.

JK1: Green. His father's old one. Pretty sure it doesn't get destroyed (trying to remember ending cinematic).

Mysteries of the Sith: All of a sudden, it's orange. Um, OK. It's never explained, as you play Mara for the entire game except the first chapter. But hey, maybe his original got destroyed somewhere.

JK2: HERE IS YOUR OLD BLUE LIGHTSABER KYLE AREN'T YOU GLAD WE KEPT IT FOR YOU. Wat. Seriously, what? In the conversation between him and Luke, the latter is clearly referring to the old days when he was a Jedi. Back when he never had a blue lightsaber. But Kyle's all YUP ALWAYS WAS BLUE NOW LET ME GRUMBLE ABOUT HAVING TO LEARN THE FORCE AGAIN.

And now the blue one is canon. Sigh.

In JK1 Katarn's Green light saber is destroyed in a battle by a female sith. Before the battle began, another, younger sith who Katarn had previously fought and let live attempts to save Katarn.
So the female sith kills the other sith for his betrayal, and so Katarn takes the orange saber of the dead sith since his green one was destroyed.
 
Oh! Yes! YUN! Totally forgot.

Um. OK now my memory's really messed up. According to screenshots it is indeed orange, but I swear in the cutscenes it was yellow.

Edit: Yup, definitely yellow in the cutscenes.
 
I so badly want to replay DF1 and DF2 right now.
 
I would love to play through DF1 again, it's been over ten years since I last saw that game in action and I loved it dearly as a kid.

I think I still have the JK2 and Mysteries of the Sith cds around here somewhere too...

Bought it from http://www.mightyape.co.nz/ and yes, they said we could post back the second figure with no postage charge :)

Saw a Sephiroth play arts figure on Ebay Australia for $17 AU and HAD to grab it, it's like a $60 saving.
