Here I was all psyched today. I was going to buy a new game to play for the weekend. It has been a couple months since the last game I bought so I figured it was in do time.

I make my entrance into EB and head to the back wall where the PC games were. As I approached I felt my stomach twist into a knot.

"Where the f*** are all the PC games?!"

They cut the PC shelf space in half to make room for the Nintendo DS and most likely the upcoming 360  . All that's left for PC was half of a wall (the smallest wall in the store) and a small shelf on the floor.

Well I figured it might be a small space but atleast they will still have new games. The plot thickens. The newsest game they had was Fable. I was expecting to see Indigo Prophecy and Dawn of War Winter Assault. I was wrong.

So from now on I will have to buy my games online and I guarantee it won't be from ebgames.com. They can kiss my ass.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Yeah i've noticed that too with my local game stores as well. Sucks hardcore.

Same here, whatever PC games they have are super old.

My EB has a whole wall (a loooooong one) dedicated to PC games. It's about triple the size of the Xbox + PS2 sections.

They are flushing out PC Games because you damned rural folk are not buying enough goddamn PC Games and always have to resort to your consoles. You guys are wiping our beloved PC market out and driving all would-be PC developers to consoles with your gay excuses for games.

Whereas we awesome to the max urban coolios dig it out in our 3000+ MAN LANS! We have to sleep together in cold air-conditioned rooms where we must huddle together naked in tight sleeping bags as we stroke each other's ginormus e-penii with our ultra-hot and modded hardened gaming machines.

OOOOHHH YEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

Shens makes a good point. Except for the last bit...

Bleh, my Gamestop's been like this for ages.

If you ask them for games like HL2 and Doom III though, they almost always have one in the back. They just save shelf space for console games.

And Shens, I resent that. I was born in Makakilo :E

/me watches people wikipedia that shit

My local Gamestop is getting a bigger PC game library.

Yep, mine has exactly half the store as PC, half the store as all the consoles and handhelds combined.

The store near my house has one small section with only Valve games. Well to be precise only HL2 and CS:CZ.

Most game stores I've been to in the past couple of years have had a gradually sinking PC section. It's depressing.

So please, make your products available through digitial distribution. Because if I can't find your new PC title in the first couple of trips to the stores, I'm probably going to give up.

I was suprised when I found out Wal-mart wasn't selling the DVD version of BF2 around here!

And I don't have an EB Games anywhere around my location....

best buy has alot of games still =\

In my experience games shops are biased towards PS2 games, then Xbox, then Nintendo, then Gameboy and finaly PC. And they ony ever have brand new games or old stratigy games, they don;t even bother to re-stock.

EB and their UK variation GAME suck, they just focus on consoles, plus GAME only has a 7 day return policy. HMV and Virgin Megastore both stock more PC games than any other console, and also they have 30 day return policies.

Both GAME's in Portsmouth are good for PC games (Not to mention they're both about 5 minutes from each other O.o)

But usually, if you can't find one you'll find it in the other one.

GAME and HMV stock a modest selection of PC Games, but it's always GameStation that has the largest section for them. I don't buy PC games in-store any more though, since Gameplay.com always has it cheaper and you're guaranteed to get it a day before release date.

EB is falling to the might of the DS... and so would i, except for the hopes of B&W2... the sims 2 and its endless expansions... BF2... Fable... The Movies... so on.

What are you on about, there are no such things as "women" on gaming forums. Pfff.
The last time I checked an EB, the PC game section takes up 1/10 of all the games.

Solution? Replace all their company computers with console systems and see how THEY like it.

The EB here in Australia has PC games, but they are usually way overpriced and there is usually some smaller business right next to them selling their games for $10 cheaper.

You have only one option. Become the EB Bomber. Teach them a lesson.

I never buy games from the highstreet now. For one, they're cheaper online and secondly they have a wider selection, including older games, since they don't have to clear games to make shelf space they keep them all stored in a warehouse. Oh, and thirdly, they're delivered to your house!

Unless there is an offer on i tend to avoid buying games at GAME, HMV or Virgin, Amazon and Play.com are my heroes :E

wow Shens, thats quite a way to come out of the closet
anyway yeah its disheartening to see the computer games section reduced to like half a wall, if that.. :|

I always buy my games online, screw retailers, I save more money this way...

My EB has always had one and a half walls for PC games. The one wall was for all the new games, and the half wall was for older games. Now it only has a quarter wall with a few new games, and old ones mixed in. I have no idea how they condensed it so much... hope I didnt miss a uber clearance sale. The two local gamestops I have around here are crap too. One just has a little 2 shelf display for pc games, and theres only like 15 games on it, the other used to have a half wall for them, but I havent been there recently.

Its amazing, the best place to buy PC games now is friken Best Buy. Its better than every place around here that specializes in video games. Whats this world coming to?

I am not gay. Don't spread your false accusations across the internets you free speech hippy. Go dress in black and ponder your life's existence in a LiveJournal.

The nearest "game" store (EB, Gamestop, Best Buy, etc.) is 120+ miles away.

Theres nothing good out anyways so who cares...
The point is, PC games are being phased out of brick-and-mortar retailers, which really sucks because it looks like Windows is finally going to become a decent game-playing OS, and now there's little shelf space for the hundreds of PC games that come out every year, whereas there's nearly a third of the shelf space each devoted to Xbox and PS2.

Just wait until the big sellars come out, they'll make space. As i recall, for WoW they devoted a whole wall if im not mistaken, just right now, there arn't any "big" hitters out.

Actually... that's a good point. I may have gotten the wrong sort of message from your other post.

I also avoid buying from retailers, online is much better...yes you dont get your game as soon as you purchase it but the selections is far greater and cheaper. muwahah

Did you ask them if there were any copies in the back

I got the last PC copy of Fahrenheit from my local GAME- they'd devoted less than a quarter of the space that they dedicated to the PS2 version :o I'm probably very strange but I could've sworn that adventure games were classically more PC-orientated fare...

And my local Virgin didn't even stock it at all! I had to tell the lifeless nerd to go out and meet some girls instead of mocking me with his empty shelves! :P
