Take a look at this. My most looked forward to game, Faces of War (sequel to Soldiers: Heroes of WW2) recently added some new concept art to their site. One of the pictures I immediately recognised as a copy from the movie Saving Private Ryan.

You can see the comparison picture below:

I hope this isn't terribly illegal because I'd hate to see the game go down, and ME be responsible :p

So, I though that was interesting. I posted on their official forums. I await a reply.

oo, there's a sequel ? woot.

i'm pretty much 100% positive that's not 'illegal' just some 'inspiration.'

Good find. That is rather interesting. You should post that on their forums and blow the cover. Perhaps they will take it off their site before they get WTFPWND by the legal system.

Yeah, I did. I am very very curious to what they'll say.

Edit: Inspiration? Look at how much of a blatent copy it is :p Look at the badge. That's just unnecessarily close.

The concept art was created after the movie I am assuming. So the only possible explanation is that the creators of Saving Private Ryan found a time machine and came to the future to steal the concept arts idea!

Have you ever played online? If so, what was your name? We may have run into eachother...
never played it online (i remember some weird lag/no game issue when i tried, but i haven't tried in awhile), only 1 or 2 times lan as they aren't alot of fans around here :x

the screenshots look pretty good, but what's new about this ? i found this thread [ http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/3001055373/m/5801099573 ] and it has some interesting info.

Yeah, someone took the face from the concept art and said "HEY! That looks exactly like my German cousin, Bob, who also happens to act!"

I can't wait to hear what the website has to say about that. Thats.. I don't know if that is illegal however.

I mean how illegal is it for people to send fan art with their favorite famous game character on the envelope.

More like Relics new game looks like the original, which these guys made and are now making the sequel to.

I really liked the original Soldiers, it had a commandos vibe to it but didn't get bogged down in the sneaky-sneaky aspect of it. I especially liked blowing the tracks of tanks and then nicking them for myself. Great game.

Steven Spielger is rich enough to afford time travel.

By the way, I was kidding, but to summarize your post: "Assuming the concept art was created after the movie, the movie could not be created from the concept art." Yeah, good job Sherlock. :smoking:

How does that work? Unless you mean just nicking them and using the turret only..

I was watching SPR today, when does a close up on a German infantrys face occur?

You can repair certain parts on a tank or any other vehicle, depending how bad it's damaged. But what you guessed can also happen, if the wheels are blown off a wheeled vehicle it would be just a turret basically. Or you could lose turret movement and have actually move or rotate the whole tank to aim :D

In the scene where they are in the town and a wall breaks down, and the Germans and Americans are shouting at eachother to surrender. The closeup on that German is one of my favorite parts. I guess it was the painter's too. :)

Ohhh, I see. Cool, sounds pretty good then. I love WWII games, so I think I'll look into this.

Oh yeah! I remember now. I did look quite familular, but I couldn't put my finger on when and where it happens. Good scene, good scene.
