I have come up with an idea for a source mod. As you read in the title, it's for a second civil war. Modern day, modern weapons. Basic premise is eerily similar to the first civil war. Conflicting views and wide seperation are evident - so both sides take up arms and kill each other.
Design doc is back home... will post when I get back later, but for right now, it's essentially this:
Choose your side.
Choose your weapons.
Duke it out in modern day locations, E.G. Washington DC, NYC, Memphis, and a few old civil war locations... maybe more, whatever.
1.) The player's fov will be a tiny bit more wobbly and shaky than usual, especially when you're running. War is frantic.
2.) The weapons are held out of sight unless the player presses a key (probably mouse 2) to raise it to their line of sight. Iron sights only, no crosshairs.
3.) Very realistic gunshot effects. I will go out on a limb to get the most realistic sounds, and you'll see a lot of smoke come out of the weapon, not much muzzleflash (depending on the weapon.)
4.) I think if you get shot anywhere but a far appendage, like a hand, or foot, you ragdoll the **** over. However, you can be dragged back behind friendly lines to a medstation. Like the idea?
5.) Still deciding what sort of objectives there should be, or if there should even be any. Team DM? Counter-Strike style?
I'm sure there are a bunch of things I forgot, but that's my basic idea. Would you guys like it???
I've begun preproduction, and I am teaching myself how to code at the moment. I will post a recruiting thread in the other forum - but for now, is this something you would find fun?
