I have been worried as of late because my computer keeps frezing and stopping to respond. At the start It seemed to only do it while I was watching a video on my TV out onto my wide screen TV. After about 6 crashes in one night spaced out by about 40-50minutes I decided to try it without TV out. But the problem still continued. I managed to watch 4hours of what I wanted to watch by not making it full screen and moving the mouse every 10minutes just incase it was the screen saver or something. Today I was using my computer for just booted up WINAMP to play some music and it crashed again.

The good thing about these crashes is that they are all the same. My computer stops responding and a loud BEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPP!!!! comes out on machine. I hav no clue what this is. At first I thought it was MBM heat safty so I turned it off but it still did it.

What does this BBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPP!P!!!! actually mean? Judging by the fact it makes a BEEP does that mean its a hardware problem?

Has anyone ever had a problem like this before?

I also tried updating windows :(

I'd first grab memtest and prime95 and run them to test stability.
If it is related to sound perhaps disable the sound card/onboard and see if it still happens.

Also look at the capacitors on the motherboard. Make sure they are not bulging or leaking. Could look in the Power supply too but I'm not sure if you wanna go through that work. hehe

Usually when you computer beeps at you its a hardware problem. It could be overheating, or a faulty component.

It hasnt happened to me in a while, but if I recall correctly, I had a bad RAM module. If you have multiple RAM chips, try taking one out, if it that doesnt help, take out the next and put the other one back it, etc.

I would also check the temperatures of your cpu and such. When it restarts next, go into your bios and check the PC status. It should give you some temp readings.

Yeah im with Asus, check your memory, if you have more than 1 stick in there, remove 1 and try it. if its still happening put it back in and remove the other.
Also if you have a spare GFX card do the same.

Its all about the process of elimination with this type of thing unfortunately.

Good luck

He'd be even better off to download a temperature program though so he can monitor it while he's playing a game or something that is demanding on the computer, so he can see if it is overheating while running certain things or not.

Just trying to help :)

Most boards come with temperature monitoring programs now-a-days I believe, check your CD.

What r ur system specs?

How many processes have u running in the background? press ctrl-alt del, then look under the processes tab.

Have u scanned ur system for adwar, spyware, malware & viruses? As these can significantly drop your system performacne as they eat up all your system ram.

he following is an example of beep codes from American Megatrends:

1s (short) System RAM refresh failure
2s Memory parity error
3s Base 64-kbytes memory failure
4s System timer failure
5s CPU failure
6s Keyboard controller Gate A20 failure
7s Virtual mode exception error
8s Display memory read/write error
9s ROM BIOS checksum error
10s CMOS shutdown register read/write error
11s Cache memory error
1l (long) - 3s Memory test failure (non fatal)
1l - 8s Display test failure (non fatal)

I found out what the problem was. It happened to be that my PSU fan had stopped running which causes the problem. I used to have my PSU set on a setting of 2 which is full fan speed. I knocked it on Automatic and hopfully it will clear any cutout problems.

Thanks for all your help, I'm very greatful.
