I'd get a logitech keyboard and mouse, but that's just me. And i'd get an X800 pro or a 9800 pro, also consider getting one gig of ram.

I would go Radeon 9800 Pro, and take advantage of dual channel RAM (512x2)

edit : nevermind you just edited and put 256x2

I agree with previous posters: more RAM and a better gfx wouldn't hurt...

Are you getting that Abit VIA board for any of the features that it comes with?
I would consider looking at reviews for the Chaintech and Gigabyte nForce3 250 boards.

The Socket 754 is single channel memory.
I would drop the Value ram 2x256mb and get 1 512MB PC3200 with timings around 2-3-2-6 (E.G. Corsair XMS or OCZ).
Would be a big improvement. Value ram is poor for performance anyway.

If you are a big gamer rather than number cruncher, I would drop the A64 3000+ to a A64 2800+ and use the saved money to bump up the 9600 to a 9800Pro.
