I was told in the other section of these forums that this should have been here... so how much of a memory upgrade should i get for these specs? how do you think it will run after that?

gateway flexcase bro essential 1100 (made in 2001)
1.2GHZ pentium 3 processor (maybe more Ghz)
windows xp home edition
382 mb of memory
plenty of disk space
ati radeon low-profile 9600se graphic card (directx9)
(earthlink dsl for online play)

hmm well we need to know what your budget is or else well throw all kinds of things at you...i think youd see a real big increase if you got a new mobo, cpu, and ram...then youd be set

hmmmm... let's just say my budget isn't very big- um not over $100. I am only looking to upgrade the memory, unless you seriously suggest otherwise.

depends on how much on an increase in performance you want. But picking up and other 512 mb of RAM, that goes max speed of your mobo would help you out.

would upgrading with 512mb (+384= 896mb total) of ram seriously upgrade half-lifes performance as well? or would (256+384) 640mb be plenty?

How many slots for holding RAM does your motherboard have? They don't make sticks of 384mb RAM so I'm guessing you have 2 sticks in there already, a 256mb and a 128mb. You should definitely get a 512mb stick, but if your motherboard only has 2 RAM slots you'll have to take out the 128mb stick to make room for the 512 but if that's the case you'll still have 768mb ram which is good.

Just make sure when you buy the ram you get PC133 SDRAM.
Not DDR, cos your board won't support that.
Also consider that even today PC133 exceeds DDR in price.

No it's a PC2100 DDR DIMM, won't work with your computer. Although for $54 I may consider it. Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone heard of Centon?

just got back from compusa, got my 512mb stick and have added it to my 256 one... 768mb ram. just hafta wait for my graphics card to come in the mail... no one cares... :sniper:

ugh!! something wrong and my comp wont take my other 256 stick- overall i would have 512mb, but i have to take everything to circuit city for them to look at- or atleast thats what gateway told me to do. im also waitin for my daton nvidia geforce fx5700le (128mb) in the mail. life is so hard! does anyone know why my computer wont register my other 256 stick? it is the same as my other pc133 stick that is read by my computer...so whats the problem here? i have over 1 Ghz processor, so it should work...
