I have a Netgear wireless router, model number MR814v2. It is about a year or so old.
My laptop computer which is 2 floors away from my router is running at excelent connection. But the PC Card the notebook is using came with the router. That leads me to my question. If I were to buy a PCI Wireless adapter for my new computer which will also be running 2 floors away from the router, could the newer wireless PCI cards work with my older router?

I wanted to buy this http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=33-122-119&depa=1

But I was not sure if the router I have supports G or B connection. My router, I think, only goes to 11 MBPS. And I know this card is 54 MPBS, but I am unable to find a PCI card that supports 11.

I don't want to purchase a USB adapter as I know those do not have as good of recepetion as the internal PCI wireless adapters.

Please help guys, as I would like to get my new computer up and running on the net by this weekend.

I am not able to run a wired connection so I am forced to use wireless. This computer will always be in use.

Yeah i don't see why they shouldn't. Same make/brand. My mate has a router which isn't the same speed as his PCI card and like yours, his card is 54MPBS (very good) and it works. I highely doubt you need a PCI card which supports 11. I think the PCI card would work at the speed your router goes at.

Will the recpetion through 2 floors run at an excellent connection speed? In other words, Can I be running at 11 mbps constantly?

Yeah my mates connection runs for 100's of metres. But his is only one floor up. And it runs excellent. yeah i don't see why it shouldn't runat 11mbps constantly. Try and get some more info from the place where your buying it from and read reviews. And that PCI card requires you to havea motherboard which supports PCI 2.2. plus it's a 802.116 which i think is meant to be long distance and excelent quality. << Sorry if i'm wrong on that.

goss

Oh and yes it will run at 11MBPS constantely because it says it runs upto 54MBPS so it will run 11mbps fine.

I have a MSI K8N Neo2 PLAT Mobo. And I figured that it would be able to run the card. Or am I wrong?

I think that's meant to be a nice mobo, 1 sec i will just search to see if it supports it!

I was just looking at your motherboards features and even though it doesn't say it anything about PCI 2.2 i'm positive that it will because i think almost all motherboards do. BTW that's a good price for that wireless PCI card your wanting :)

All right thank you for your help goss. I am going to buy the wireless card today. I really appreciate it.
