I thought I would share a video I made for a scholarship worth $15,000. It is about tea and the health benefits of tea (its put on by the Tea Council.) I used a play on words and called it a "Kinetic Teapography" since the actual "style" and format of a video like this is called a kinetic typography.

I used After Effects CS4 to do the animations and this project was the first project I'd ever done in After Effects so I had to learn as I went along, which is why it may seem a little sloppy in some areas. All of the flourishes, extensions, waves, sun bursts, paint splatters, and ink flows are from the Evolution and Riot Gear design elements from Video CoPilot (yes I did actually buy them.)

10% of the judging is popularity. The song is Sweet Tea by The Woggles.

Enjoy.

*sorry for the small size Sony Vegas (well me actually) screwed up the aspect ratio.

Looks really cool! I love those kinda of videos, and that was really informative too. I just need milk now and I could have a cup of tea.

It was a bit too long for these kind of vids. Pretty cool nonetheless. I should try after effects.

I liked it, very informative and yes I am an avid tea drinker. if i don't have my tea everyday people die....in TF2

I don't think it was too long really. The pacing was pretty well done, but some parts went a little quickly and if I was a slightly slower reader then I would have missed bits, but on the whole there werent any problems really. Nicely done.

That was great. Do the health benefits cover all types of tea leaf or only certain types? I also heard that adding milk basically 'neutralises' any benefits. Truff?

I'm fairly certain they cover all types of tea. But even if you add milk I don't believe you would "destroy" the flavanoids that give all of the health benefits. The most you would do is raise the caloric count and fat content.

edit:

I googled the question because I wasn't fairly certain as to what the answer is (i drink my tea with honey..) and I was quite surprised:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/01/070108191523.htm

Tests on volunteers showed that black tea significantly improves the ability of the arteries to relax and expand, but adding milk completely blunts the effect. Supporting tests on rat aortas (aortic rings) and endothelial (lining) cells showed that tea relaxed the aortic rings by producing nitric oxide, which promotes dilation of blood vessels. But, again, adding milk blocked the effect.

But then again another study says that milk has no effect:

http://www.englishteastore.com/flavonoids-tea.html
Volunteers consumed two cups of black tea with water, black tea with semi-skimmed milk or water with semi-skimmed milk (a control). The tea was brewed for seven minutes. Fifty minutes after consumption, the control group showed no change, but the two black tea drinkers showed the same result, a 45% increase in flavonoids, proving milk had no effect on the level of antioxidants in the tea. Within 80 minutes the antioxidant properties in the blood rose 10% for the tea drinkers.

Anyway, thanks for the constructive criticism.
