Around seven years ago, three great games I thoroughly loved came out within a year, and I decided to name them the Unholy Trinity of Gaming, and they were, in order of release:
Quake 2
Unreal
Half-Life
Why? Because each engine was revolutionary, with each game having unique playability as well, with wonderful visuals and great value for money.
I've since noticed that it's time for another UTG, and this time they are, again in order of release:
Unreal Tournament 2004
Doom 3
Half-Life 2
Notice that each game comes from the same companies, as I think these are the pioneers of gaming tech, and nothing else can touch them.
Oh, and I love the games, too.
So, these are my UTGs, and I'm sure another one will appear in about 6-7 years.
What are your UTGs, then? The rules are, they must be three games, all from different companies, that you love.
