Around seven years ago, three great games I thoroughly loved came out within a year, and I decided to name them the Unholy Trinity of Gaming, and they were, in order of release:

Quake 2
Unreal
Half-Life

Why? Because each engine was revolutionary, with each game having unique playability as well, with wonderful visuals and great value for money.

I've since noticed that it's time for another UTG, and this time they are, again in order of release:

Unreal Tournament 2004
Doom 3
Half-Life 2

Notice that each game comes from the same companies, as I think these are the pioneers of gaming tech, and nothing else can touch them.

Oh, and I love the games, too.

So, these are my UTGs, and I'm sure another one will appear in about 6-7 years.

What are your UTGs, then? The rules are, they must be three games, all from different companies, that you love.

Hmmm...
Half-Life 2
Doom 3
Battlefield Vietnam

Starcraft
Half-Life 2
Resident Evil 4

All great games, but since I do post on a HL fansite, I think HL2 is my fave.

I think he means PC fps'

And starcraft? that would be with Halflife, quake 2 and unreal

My current unholy trinity is:

Burnout 3
Civilization 3
Half-Life 2.

If I counted up the hours spent on them all (multiplayer included) it must be topping 300 :-/

Mine would probably be:

Half-life 2
Unreal Tournament 2004
Return to castle wolfenstein/ soldier of fortune 2 :)O)

The last two both had amazing multiplayer in my opinion, and i would definately get back into them.

Sim City 2000
Civilization 2
Ufo Enemy Unknown

for 2004...
HL2
Rome : Total War
UT04

for 2005... which i think will be another year of gaming greatness:

Stalker
Kotor 2
WoW

I agree those 3 developers are really unstoppable but we are starting to see some new faced that could be right up with them.

CrtTek - their engine is insane and their 1st game was very good
Monolith - They made Tron 2.0 which is a great game and now they are coming out with F.E.A.R and that looks insane.

Half-Life 2, World of Warcraft, and Doom 2. Well, only Doom 2 because my fx 5600 blew up.

Quake II, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Unreal, Half-Life, Doom III, Quake III, Quake, Soul Calibur 2, Far Cry and No One Lives Forever 2.
