Hey fellas, i just stopped by to direct you to a little mod i am about to release for Max Payne 2 which includes some never before seen features.

Hey, that's pretty sweet... make the physics useful for something aside from looking cool!

I have a question, though... can you just push boxes and stuff into the guys and they'll get knocked down... or do you have to kick it?
 
It should work either way, the objects being able to damage people are a map option so right now you can only kill people with objects in my test map, but if someone were to make a level specially for this mod it could be implemented in a TC.

And yes, puching objects into people will also kill/damage them.


In case some of you didn't notice, the animations where max fires at opposite sides is kinda like "gun kata" from Equilibrium. It starts out shooting with crossed guns, then it ends with both arms stretched out and shooting at opposite sides. I have been able to kill 3 - 4 people with this sweet motion.

Oh crap, i totally evaded your question didn't i?

To answer, technically no, the objects have to move at a certain speed (fast enough so they would cause damage in real life). So for example if you just bump into a chair it won't cause damage, but if you shoot the chair with a high powered weapon and it hits someone fast/hard enough it will do damage. Kicking an object or punching it almost guarantees it will cause damage.

I've been waitin' forever (like 2 months I think) to get my account approved there by the admins... I think they forgot about me! :(

Nice work on your little mod. It's fun without all that, hmmm... fluff, y'know? :afro:
 
Hehe i know, i try really hard to come up with interesting new things to add to it. Instead of just replacing weapon models, sounds, skins and effects i just make something new and tweak it until it feels right. You see way too many mods out there adding dual mp5's and silenced weapons but not enough mods adding actual NEW features which is what really pushes the limits.


I hope i can keep on adding new things, i have been talking to TerminX, the creator of Cinema and we might get together and probably become part of the same team. I will of course still keep on making my own mods of course, but i will also have a hand adding things to cinema :P

Hope everyone enjoys this version. I made a ton of changes to it and even i can't remember all of them. I will put up a changelog a bit before release so that you know what you're downloading.


Did i mention the mod is small too?

wow, me and a friend were talking today how cool it would be if max could fire ingrams at both sides. But i think that if you could "fisheye" the camera it would be awesome (letting you see where you are hitting).
 
Hmm actually i think i might be able to do that.... Let me work on it and see if i can ok? If i don't add it in now i will do it later...

Changes:



- ADDED IN GUN-KATA MOVE: After you pick up dual ingrams you gain the ability to use 'Gun-Kata'
a special move which allows Max to use his dual ingrams to spray at opposite sides to cause the ultimate
in action mayhem!
- Altered the kick trajectory to make objects fly further and higher
- Punch enemies and then kick them for that extra helping of arse-whooping!
- Added Bullet time music and tweaked bullet time values (may rip this out for public release)
- Tweaked the reload animations for most akimbo weapons
- Punch damage animations tweaked for a more explosive bloodspray
- New particle emitter creates streams of blood instead of a puff when punching someone
- Grenade death animations tweaked for a more attractive death
- Grenades can now kill people if they hit them directly, they bounce off then explode.
- Kick now works when holding 2 handed weapons (shotguns, rifles)
- Fixed grenades duplicating themselves after touching the ground.
- Fixed strange grenade animations
- Gun-Kata uses ingram ammo.
- To get gun-kata you must first pick up the dual ingrams, then it becomes an option.
- Added punch as a primary weapon



Bugs and Future changes:

- Find better animations for high punch, low punch, high kick, low kick.
- More gun-kata moves.
- Improve on the mod graphically, i need to find a good skinner and someone who can make particles.
- Need to find a hud designer for new weapon graphics.
- Add in 'adrenaline' a new special move... i will explain later!
- Further tweak the effects of gun-kata moves.
- More blood!
- Better BT music (i know it wasn't the best song in the world)
- More BT tweaks
- Maybe add a new primary weapon, the revolver.
- Add new maps? I need some good map designers to help me out here, i suck at MaxEd2.
- Modeler? It would be great if i could get some models for new weapons.
- Put something in Max's hand so it doesn't look like he's 'scratching' the enemy when he punches, maybe brass knuckles or an 8 ball.
- Find a way to make gas canisters not explode when kicked.
- Implement some of my new moves into the enemy AI... not sure if its possible.
- More to come!

Sounds pretty awesome. The links on the other forum for the pics don't work for me though...so I can't see the gun-kata in action :(
