I woke up this morning with a sore throat and trouble swallowing. Get a glass of water and such.. the water went down pretty easy.

I looked in my mouth in the mirror and noticed my uvula was swolen and pretty red. My tonsils seem to be fine- I never had them removed but they don't appear to be infected. Anyone have any idea what this could be?

possibly onset of pharyngitis. Ive had it before and my uvula was red and swolen prior to when i when down with it. my throat was so swollen i couldnt eat for 3 days so i was stuck on the soup!

I had this. The doctor thought it was because I'd scratched it on a pointy or extra rough piece of food, but after it happened, other bits of my mouth started to swell up occasionally too (lips and cheek, mostly). Still happens. I think it's an allergy.

What did you eat last night?

Crab and chicken strips.

It's not bad at all like I can't eat or swallow or anything. It's just slight discomfort when I swallow is all. I mentioned the water thing because it was strange as the water did not have any hurt at all to swallow.

edit: You know what, I did start choking on some Sun Chips yesterday at lunch.. maybe that did it.

well if you start getting white streaks in your throat it means strep. i had strep early this summer. terrible terrible experience. i was lucky that my asthma never got triggered(which tends to happen when i get sick). i couldn't eat/drink/swallow anything for a couple days. i had to force feed myself water. hopefully it's not that. go to the doctor though. they can run tests, and if it's caught early, whatever it is... it might lessen the effects of whatever you got.

its that 'dangly' bit at the back of the throat.

And strep is the same thing as Pharyngitis.

Haha, I had that exact same thing a few months ago. It actually started with my lips... one side of one of my lips would get all swollen and itchy... and then sometimes it went to my fingers, mostly my thumb. I didn't do anything about it until my uvula got swollen, because it got so big it was hard for me to talk and breathe. The doc gave me a shot of steroids (which unfortunately had to be in my butt... but it worked), and put me on a prescription for claritin. She said it was some sort of weird allergy, which made sense because this was back in the spring. If you can't get a prescription allergy medication, try some over the shelf stuff... but that's probably what will help :)

I read 'stolen', heh, oh noes teh french kidney thief!

I used to get pain when swallowing all the time.

...Go on, I'm wide open, you know you want to.

Nope, 2 seasons and they killed it off. :( All the good cartoons die young, and all the bad cartoons grow old and cranky.

[EDIT]: I Am Weasel was killed off with Cow and Chicken.

A perfect example of a cartoon that should have died years ago = Rugrats.

Seriously, what's with all of this "All Grown Up" rubbish? It's like Saved By The Bell 2004 or something.
