My Very First Paycheck

I just cashed my check today. I was kinda surprised because I thought I would get less. But I can't complain about this...$230.55.

So, to start a discussion, how much did you get when you worked your first job and cashed your first paycheck?

I think my first proper paycheque (as in not cash in hand stuff avoiding Mr Tax man) was around £600 before they took everything off it (bloody government). 16 years old at a tiny games company converting oldies to the PC. Think I was even sad enough to photocopy it too lmao!

my first paycheck was from the government, the department of education for supervising state exams in my secondary school(high scholl), just had to make sure no1 cheated, couldnt of cared less if they did tbh. not sure how much i got but i remember it was quite a lot for doing very little tbh, lasted about a week.

yeah all my jobs have been checks only which sucks as you have to go down and lodge it instead of being able to go and spend it immediately, i'd prefer just a pay packet, ie hand me an envelope with my wages like most shops etc.

I worked two weeks. Making $6 an hour. 6-7 weekdays(4-9) and 2 Saturdays(9-5).

Nah. I believe minimum wage is $5.15.

That's just legal minimum wage. Hardly any normal job pays that low. I take that back, restaurant workers get like $5.15-$5.50 but then they make bank off tips.

I can't remember my first check...probably like $50 from training in or something.

Now I don't bother with checks, I get direct deposit to my account. I like seeing the overnight boost

My advice to you, save it. Save as much as possible. Spend a litte here and a little there. Don't blow it all in one go.

As long as they make a certain percentage in tips, restaurant workers can be paid as low as somewhere between $3-$4 per hour.

Heh, yeah. But I know how to keep cool. I have a really nice attitude and rarely lose my temper and take it out on the customers.
