F*** the world and everyone in it. My video card appears to be busted. I had my comp running all night and it was fine, I unplug everything and take it over to a friend's house for a little LAN gig and my speaker gives the BEEBEEBEEP sign that something's wrong. I determine that the video card is the source of the problem as replacing the card works and the card doesn't work in other comps.

The above was a Gainward 6800GT, but now it's just a useless hunk of metal and plastic.

Just wanted to share my grief.

Oh yeah, and in the meantime I'm using my friend's old FX 5200 ;(

Ugh...what a terrible part to have die. What are you going to get to replace it?

Did you check to see if the fan is running on the card?

Too bad man...I hate it when video cards die..sucks when the most *or second most* expensive part fails..

The card's fans were running fine. I think the card might still have been running too hot. And I'm sure the warranty wouldn't apply since it was moderately overclocked since day 1. I'm not replacing the card until next year when I upgrade my PC though, so I'll have to bear the 5200 until then. Oh well, I guess there's a bright side to HL2 ep 2 was delayed after all :D

Mutoid, I don't know if it's something you'd consider, but... Are you SURE you overclocked the card? I mean are you REALLY sure? I mean this could easily have happened without overclocking, right? They do this sometimes, and this happened for you even though you DIDN'T overclock the card! ;)

Am I making sense to you? :)

I know how you feel. A couple days ago my MSI 6600gt just exploded (the fan flew right off and some stuff was burning/smoking).

MSI has a 3 year warranty on their cards though, so it's being RMAed right now.

You know that a lot of the time, they send you a better part in return.

I has an Athlon 64 3200+ fry and I got a 3700+ back.

mabye you damaged something on the way to your friends doesnt hurt to rma though since it wasnt your fault and ive never heard of a card dying after the computer is turned off only when its on

Yes, I think you JUST MIGHT have winked and PRODDED with CAPS for me to get the picture ;)

Taking a look at warranty: 1 year?! Urge to kill ... rising ...! :flame: :flame: :flame:

Guess I'm just going to have to spend the next 4 months playing Guitar Hero and HL games instead of BF2 and such.
