My visuals in Half life 2 are all wierd was there a patch problem?

The smoke comes out as boxes, the water is all ****ed up with a mix of diffrent textures, it never happened before then i had like a 100 meg update for hl2 and this happened (steam auto loaded it)

120 gig sata HD

( I dled it off of steam, there could be other problems, didnt play it much after i found it ****ed up, played it fine before yesterday morning, I deleated the content on steam and re-downloaded it also)

PS: All my drivers are uptodate i made sure.

Thats a nice heap, the only thing I can think of is that your windows might be overworked with old program I would try reinstalling, other than that Im not sure .. was it ati or nvidia that had a problem with one of their new drivers..? try the seminewest or a beta-?
