My visuals in Half life 2 are all wierd was there a ptach problem?

The smoke comes out as boxes, the water is all ****ed up with a mix of diffrent textures, it never happened before then i had like a 100 meg update for hl2 and this happened (steam auto loaded it)

( I dled it off of steam, there could be other problems, didnt play it much after i found it ****ed up, played it fine before yesterday morning, played it on a school computer today all fine, I deleated the content on steam and re-downloaded it also)

PS: All my drivers are uptodate i made sure.

how did u get away with playing hl2 at school

Some of the computers have geforce 4 64 mb mx 400's in them for working with mya and Flash animation, I have to run it at 640 by 480 with the textures low but it still works at about 30 fps. The one main teacher dont give a **** and the pricks don't come in the back, I put steam on the computer by burning the file folder and dled hl2 off of steam on the T1 at school, no instalation.

BUT thats not the question, so please dont digress cause im in a lot of ****ing pain not playing hl2.
