I just finished designing my website and I was wondering what you guys think of it. http://www.gnarass.com I'm not very experienced with flash at all, so take a look, let me know. Thanks

Looks really good. Nice design. Only comment that comes to mind is that it looks like 'Gnarass' is spelled 'Gharass' because of the 'P' above it

Looks professional. But I have some difficulty reading the text, perhaps it shouldn't be bolded? Just a suggestion. It may only be my sleepy eyes.

The art work looks good, or is that only the background for the art section?

With some color and some small changes it could be great. One thing that I personally think is'nt that good is the borders to the left and right, they simply does'nt fit with the style you use for the rest of the site. For those text boxes, you could make them look old and used, just like the menues. Don't listen to me if you already like the site as it is.

But what you should really do is, take a look at one of the pages and click on the About page, you'll see those chat boxes from the News page, even if you never clicked that page. I don't know your methods of making flash websites, but you should create each page in its own .SWF file and make the main site load each page after clicking instead of loading the whole project in one piece. This way you're site will work smoother and the development will be less complex. Just some thoughs, since I've been working with Flash websites for few years now.

Wait it says in the about section, that it was formed by scott miller, it's not the Scott Miller of 3dr is it. Are you scott, do you roam these boards under the name silentkilla.

There's nothing there that really needs to be Flash. If you use Flash, then google won't be able to spider the site.

Incase you don't include the description in the html file :P

Not bad, but here's a few things that I think could use some improvement...

1) Everytime you click on a new section, such as images, it cycles back to the news page briefly before loading the new section.
2) I think it could use a bottom border, or else maybe extend the side borders down.
3) And most important of all it needs a drastically reduced loading time. On a wireless connection it took me over 90 seconds to load the page at 60Kb/s. Honestly, when I'm surfing the web I would never even bother looking at a page if it took that long to load.

Other than that nice job.

Other folks have said the positive points, so here's issues I encountered:

-It also took me an extremely long time to load the flash, which might have been acceptable if it were being used for more than obtrusive fade effects and a few moving squares.
More interesting transitions would be nice. As it stands, the squares are just "there".

-At the same time, it doesn't flow very well. Everything is compartmentalized into a seperate box, and then those boxes are put into a basic grid into another small box formed by the borders.
There desperately needs to be a dominant element that connects everything together.

-Compulsory auto-sound is the devil.

-There's a lot of stylistic clashing going on. The menu bar has that scratchy impromptu look, but the title image is a minimalist blank space and the edge borders are smooth shaded technological.
The image section has borderless grey squares (that look the best), while everything else has bordered white squares, and the art section has no squares or borders and a big chunk of bright red that isn't mirrored anywhere else.
The vastly different fonts don't help much either.
If possible, stick with what the image section has going on.

Thanks for the suggestions. I know that when you click the links randomly that it loads and fades funny. I'm working on that :) The text will be changed. This is my first flash site. Thanks for the kind words.

an 11meg web page is huge, I don't care who you are. It's that mp3 file or something. If you really want music you'll need to drop the encoding rate a ton.

Yeah the best you could have would be pages that are under 100KB. Open images in a new page, etc.
