NAIAS 2009 Pics (lots of pics, 56 k shouldn't try)

Here are some pics I took at the North American International Auto Show last week (In Detroit, MI). All in all it was a very good show. In my opinion, the focus of the industry has shifted from Hydrogen and fuel cell cars to electric cars, as every major automobile manufacturer had electric cars. Some pics look better than others as I couldn't seem to find the right setting. The crowds this year were much smaller than the previous years and I was there on a weekend.

The pics were taken on 3.1 MP. I am not going to name every car but if you want to know what it is, tell me which one and I will try to remember it.

Some great looking cars, good to see the 09 RX-8 in there! Was kinda expecting the Furai, but I guess the entire place would have exploded with awesome.

Also, DID I SEE A GENESIS, HMMM? Those cars are nice. Granted, they resemble a Tiburon so much, but hell, it still nice looking, fast as hell, and is decent at turning. I'd like one.

The new Camaro's are so hideous. Guh. I can't look at that car and go "MY GOD WHAT A MASTERPIECE!".

*EDIT* and I can't believe Nissan didn't show up at all. WTF was up with that.

Some great pics, I went to the excel motorshow a couple years back and saw lots of similar manufacturers. Loved the Aston Martin pics & Lotus' stuff. Lots of emphasis on the electric / hybrid cars these days I noticed, really taking a hold in motorshows nowadays.

Too many American muscle cars though <3 to the British & Germans

The focus is electric now. The main reason I see for the shift is that electrical is more practical than hydrogen. Its not that the technology isn't there for hydrogen, they have fuel cell cars and I even rode in one at the auto show. Its just that the infrastructure in the US is lacking. I don't remember the exact measurement but to fill up the Hydrogen tank requires like 2000 psi.

GM baffles me. At the show they had their Saturn line and were showcasing the 2009 Vue Hybrid as well as the Sky. Well, just last week they announced they were discontinuing the entire Saturn line. The Sky was quite a head turner and garnered quite a bit of interest.

GM and Chrysler are just pure jokes to me. They have maybe a few decent cars but that's about it. Ford is the only one of the 3 that is improving and even then not by much.

Why is it that Ford in Europe is really successful but over here, in north america it's just fail? I don't get it.
