Nakata Hideo to direct The Ring 2

Now, this'll probably interest about.. 3 people here But.. I found this to be really good news

According to http://ringworld.somrux.com/ring2american.htm , The Ring 2, the sequel to the American remake "The Ring," will be directed by Nakata Hideo. Nakata Hideo is the director of the two Japanese films (which the American film was based on).. so, it looks like this movie may have some promise afterall I was thinking it might suck after hearing a new-comer director would be directing it (only credited with making a creepy Got Milk? commercial), but now that Nakata is on board, I'm pretty excited (assuming it's true)

I figure this'll excite about 2, maybe 3 people here.. myself and Fenric included.
Oh well, thought this was interesting news

Bah, The Ring wasn't about being scary, just creepy. Creeped me out.. a lasting creepy feeling whenever you see static on a TV lol

anyway, many people argue that the American remake sucked compared to the Japanese films. The Japanese films were definitely more artsy, and had I seen them on the big screen, they'd probably have been alot freakier/creepier.

Alas, I saw the American film before the Japanese films, so the Japanese films weren't a shock or surprise to me. Either way, the announcement of the same director is a great thing, as Nakata did a very good job on Ring/Ring 2

I think it was the ring that was shown in the tape that you had to watch. Or the entrance to the well is ring shaped.

Yeah but i meant in the original japanes thing. The name of the film was just ring, as in how a phone rings. So basically it changed the whole idea when they made an English version.

the original was named Ring because that was the last thing Sadako saw after being thrown into the well, the ring of light above when the slab was placed on top of the well. The phone ringing just fits in with it.

Ring - called ringu from western fans, but its originally Ring

The Ring - third rate US remake with elements of the second Ring movie, wasn't half as good, though I still got it on DVD, what the hell

Ju-on - Bloody scary eastern original, now being remade with Sarah Michelle Geller in the lead, though its using the same director as the original version, so like The Ring 2 it might have a chance, but its VERY unlikely either The Ring 2 or Ju-On US will be half as good as the original films.

The american Ring was still pretty damn great. If the new one can keep an equivalent level of quality, they'll get my 7$.
