Hello. I was hoping someone had the same experience and could guide me as to what I am doing (wrong)
My network uses a router which must use NAT b/c my internal ip addresses are all 192.XXX.XXX.1, 192.XXX.XXX.2 etc... (--I have an external address which is in the 68.XX etc range)
I am trying to start a dedicated server but whenever I start the server, the server does not show up in the list of Internet Servers (from Find Servers). The reason (I think) is because the internal IP address is not one that someone on the outside can connect to
I have tried the following
--Added -IP with my external IP address to the Launch Options of HLDS. My internal IP address always shows as the IP addess on the HLDS Main tab. (not sure if this is what it should do--I would hope that my external IP address would show b/c of the flag that was added to the Launch Options, but not sure if this is what should happen)
--In the router, Port Forwarded 27015 to my internal IP address
--disconnected the router from my network and connected directly to my machine. When I did this, I was able to start the server and view it from the list of Internet Servers.
Obviously, I need the router as part of my network, but somethng is screwy... Any ideas?
