For more information on how the game is coming along....

Looks ****ing incredible.
I wonder what the system reqs are going to be... judging by those graphics I'd say they'll be pretty high.

God damn it I am buying the shit out of this game. I LOVED the original NS and I've been watching the development of NS2 for years and years. Nice that we are finally getting meat in the form of real screenshots, before this they had only shown off the models and environments and whatnot.

Been following this for a while, cant wait to play it, NS is a really unique, I used to love playing it back in the day.

Love the lack of HUD - this looking amazing. A buy for sure.

Hope they get onto Steam, would be a fitting way to sell it considering NS's origins.

They probably removed the HUD just for screenshot purposes.

So the aliens have eyes in their mouth?

The frame story of the game is that James Cameron is making a documentary in 3D about the aliens, and has strapped cameras to them and to marines.

It looks amazing. They must have created a pretty great engine.

holy shit thats way more awesome than i expected :D

Are you sure thats ingame, looks kinda like artwork.

But if it is ingame thats freaken awesome. Should make it easier to find the aliens than the original.

1.2 GHz Processor, 256MB RAM, a DirectX 9 level graphics card, Windows Vista/2000/XP, mouse, keyboard and an internet connection.

I think I'm missing something. Those screenshots are very nice, but they don't seem so impressive to me.

With those graphics? I find that hard to believe.

Looks SWEET, is there any info on if they plan to have some form of bot-support or such?

That's because those are the minimum specs.

Also Pi, I don't think the team are going for realism, given the aliens. I think they can be forgiven for having a viewpoint in a mouth.

They are going to have support nightmares as soon as they reach a release stage.

Those definitely look altered.

They say it isn't. And it's supposedly not. So there you go.

It's ingame but there's no game to play yet (so it's more like a "staging" than a real scene from the game).

They haven't finished the HUD yet. But they plan to keep it really minimalistic (health / ammo bar... that's it kinda style).

I can't wait.

It amazes me that 1 or 2 persons only by themselves can create an entire engine from scratch.

John Carmack = GOD

Hell, Max is the only coder so far. He's a freaking crazy man.

People in 3rd person games don't have their eyes 5 feet above them.

Camera in the mouth makes it a bit more exiting (seeing as these are Aliens and not humans). The gameplay still has the benefits of 1st person since the camera is still on the head. If it was true to the perspective of the eyes then at the bottom of the screen you'd be seeing a long nose. :\

Thank you. Looks like a rather generic, grey/brown space shooter to me. Graphically those screen shots are pretty mundane, too. WHY ARE YOU ALL SO EXCITED

Is it the nostalgia goggles?

Because NS is ****ing awesome that's why.

It definitely looks nice. I never really got into the original tbh. I was too preoccupied with other mods and games at that time. I Am looking forward to this though.

imho, the point is that it could look a lot worse: NS 1 was all about the game play mechanics not about pretty special effects. The game itself was (and still is) simply brilliant because of its content - not its looks. So, by coding what seems to be a rather generic but really good looking engine, extending the gameplay mechanics of NS1 and staying true to their initial ideas of Natural Selection per se - BAM, you got awesome!

So I think you SHOULD have a little more compassion for the work that's been done by UWE: They simply rule the multiplayer world. :cat:

NS was and forever will be the most action packed, intelligent and awesome multiplayer game I've ever played. :E

It's not the graphics that are exciting, it's the simple fact of seeing ingame shots of something we've been waiting for for years.

Also the graphics are ****ing awesome for the size of the team who made the engine.
