Best show ever.

NCIS (promoted as Navy NCIS in season one), aka Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service or NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service, is an American police procedural television series revolving around a fictional team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which conducts criminal investigations involving the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.

The main thing about this show that I love are the characters, they all work wonderfully together.

leroy_jethro_gibbs.gif

Leroy Jethro Gibbs is the Special Agent in charge, he's a bit of a hardass but he has a soft spot that is usually evident whenever he goes to see Abby(I think Abby might remind him of his daughter)

anthony_dinozzo.gif

Anthony "Tony" Dinozzo is the senior Special Agent and is pretty cool, he's damn funny and always makes references to nearly every single movie in existence in casual conversation and during investigations.

Ziva David is a Mossad Agent sent to NCIS as a liason and she kicks ass, her little quirk is constantly messing up her use of American slang, pop culture, and colloquialisms... everyone picks on her about it.

Timothy "Probie" McGee is the nerd of the show... making references to video games occasionally and always using tech lingo that confuses nearly everyone except Abby.
He's the junior Special Agent, he and Tony constantly have dumb little fights and he gets tons of nicknames from him.

abby-ncis.gif

Abigail "Abby" Sciuto is the forensics specialist, she's a goth girl who everyone on the team loves.
She often hugs everyone and talks really fast, mostly due to her caffeine addiction.
Her and Gibbs are best buds and she's really the only one that can talk to him without much trouble.

david-mccallum.gif

Donald "Ducky" Mallard and the Scottish Chief Medical Examiner, he tends to tell long-winded stories that usually have no relevance to what he's doing.
He also tends to talk to the corpses that he gets.

Those are essentially the major characters, there's tons of minor characters too but I won't go into them as you'll need to watch the show to truly learn about them or just check out the wiki.

The show is basically a spin-off of JAG but it's so so much better than it, it's quite hilarious and serious at the same time.
I've been pushed to tears numerous times because of it.

It airs on these channels.

Holy shit that took me way too long to type up.

I honest think the show rather cheesy, I'd watch it if nothing was on, but it wouldn't be on my top 10 fav shows.

Personally I prefer CSI:NY

I don't really think it's cheesy, it's funny.
It's a serious military crime show with tons of light hearted humor thrown in it.

I could never get into any of the CSI's, personally.
I mean, if you want to talk about cheese... then look no further than CSI. :p

Your summaries of the characters make them sound pretty cheesy.

Most character summaries sound cheesy when you think about it, especially so short as that. But NCIS has a pretty great amount of depth to the characters. It does occasionally suffer from the problem where being a CSI / Murder Investigation show, things get a bit formulaic, but they always throw in new things with the character and so on.

And man, has this show done some really unexpected things with death.

Hey, I did those summaries mostly off the top of my head. :(
And now that you mention it, they are pretty short... I guess I figured they were a little longer due to me having to think about them for a bit.

Yes, they SOUND cheesy but you'd really have to watch the show to fully appreciate/understand the descriptions.

Well, yeah, but to your credit you also worked hard to avoid spoilers. Like there's so very much that could be said about Tony and his relationships with the rest of the team and how his status as a "ladies man" has changed over the course of the show.

It's the relationships that really make this the great show that it is, and they're very complex.

Don't even get me started on Kate, if you can get a description of her WITHOUT spoiling the first couple of Seasons... by all means, I drew blanks on her. D:

Wow, I guess this show really doesn't have any real fans on these forums.
Just me and Yorick, I guess.

Thank God we have each other. :E

Also last night's was good, caught me a bit off guard there.

NCIS is great, good chemistry with the characters, solid development, banter is always fun.

It's a much more light hearted show than CSI but still can be serious when needed.

Its on my must watch list along House

Dinozzo is such a massive gigantic definition of the word "douche" I can barely stand when he is on screen, if he wasn't on the show it would be good.

I don't agree. He's always been fun loving and he still screws with McGee, but he's really come a long way, especially after the arc in Season 5 surrounding him. I don't think he's the same person he was, despite trying to be, and it's interesting to see it develop.

Dinozzo may be a douche but it's why he's a great character.
He has his flaws that become evident as the show goes on.

He's not when it counts, though. He's just immature, but he has definitely grown up a lot over the course of the show. The occasional references to him being a younger Gibbs is pretty fantastic.

I just rewatched 6x04 - Heartland, about Gibbs's past, which still may be one of the best episodes this show has ever done. Agree with me, Lucid. It makes me stronger.

Is that when he
gets blown up and has amnesia? or when he visits his dad? Either way, both of those are fantastic episodes.

God damn it, why are we the only people that dig the show?! :(
I mean, I would've thought for sure that Ennui would be into it since he seems to love TV shows that revolve around good character chemistry.

When he visits his dad. The amnesia ones are fantastic too though

I made Samon watch an episode once, and I seem to recall he liked it, but I don't think enough to get into the show. The one we watched is one of my favourite episodes. It's uh, Call of Silence. Season 2, episode 7. This world war 2 vet comes into NCIS saying he murdered his best friend during the war. Great episode, it makes me cry.

But yeah I don't know why more people don't watch it. But then, I only even started watching it because I was bored one day and my mom had the first season boxed set kicking around. It really grew on me quickly though.

I watched this show a lot a couple years ago. I remember stopping a season after Sheva came in. Still catch it on TV every now and then, but I don't have enough time to follow it.

My dad actually got me into the show when I was still living with my folks, he watched it every night along with Law & Order.
It was the Halloween episode where Abby dresses up as Marilyn Monroe, got me hooked.

Also, yeah when the vet is dancing with Cate I teared up a bit, great episosde.
My favorite is Kill Ari part 1 & 2, so intense... and when Tony goes undercover as a prisoner.

Oh man, yeah those are great. Bete Noir, the first one with Ari, where he takes Ducky hostage is pretty intense too.

Tonight was one of the few episodes of this show that sucked. It fell flat on every single level.

Tonight's episode was a complete and total mess.
Although, tbh, the new season hasn't been that great.

Yeah, the only episode I really liked was Gibbs's past.
The stuff with Vance is just, who cares.

But really NCIS rarely has bad episodes. There's always humor or interesting cases or good characters or something. Tonight's episode was absolutely terrible. Robin back to his shitty excuse for acting. LL Cool J having a role that was basically unnecessary and made McGee redundant. And the NCIS Undercover Office in LA has a Minority Report style computer that the main ****ing headquarters doesn't have? Oh and Ziva's love interest is a bad guy.

I heard that this two parter is supposed to be preparation for launching a spin-off and I really, really hope it isn't because goddamn is it going to give the original series an awful reputation.

Dear God, I hope they don't do another spin-off.

What would it be... NCIS: LA? Good Christ, they're going to turn into CSI.

When I saw the box I thought this was some photoshop joke taking the piss out of the CIS series... turns out it's a real show.

That ended unexpectedly.

Something big is coming. Michael and Tony get into a gun fight? It feels almost like they're building them up against each other by way of Ziva. Gibbs seems to think that Ziva works specifically for him, but I'm not so sure any more.

Yeah, that was actually a decent conclusion.
I'm actually interested in the spin-off now.

It's not like I'm going to obsess over it or anything.
The fact that it has LL Cool J in it is enough to make me extremely wary, even though his acting has been decent so far.

...

Did you even watch the episode? LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell are like the worst actors ever. The story was borderline ridiculous. And the gadgetry was just retarded.

It was without a doubt, by far the worst two episodes NCIS has ever done.

You're not a member of the T.I.A.P. league, Yorick. You're too limited to see.

Yes, the futuristic gadgets are a little over the top and came out of no where but the second half of the two parter managed to entertain my simple little mind.

I still prefer everything before the beginning of this season though, I have a strong feeling that the show is getting cancelled by this season's end.
