The lord martial in the movie is called the "half dead" and in the movie, there is a conversation about how someone might promote him to "full dead" i thought that man was the leader of the necromongers, but he is not? Im confused, can someone clear it up?

The movie is Chronicles of Riddick.
And yes, he is the leader. They were making a pun.

The meaning was, they were contemplating murdering the Lord Martial. He was a 'half-dead'. For their religion/cult/whatever, once you die you go to the Underworld, which for them isn't exactly like death I think, but like the start of a new life in a different kind of world. So should you die, it's kind of like you're "moving on" or being "promoted" to the next step of your life.

But yeah, they were saying it as a pun.

oh i see. and im guessing all the previous lord marshals were "promoted" then? And also, how does the lord marshals aquire those powers, because obiously, the one in the movie wasnt the very first. Im guessing there is a ceromony to allow them the powers?

I'm doubtful. If I recall, Chronicles bombed in the States at least.

I believe Mr. Diesel himself said that's why they branched into video games with Butcher Bay. If it doesn't work out on the silver screen, they could still pursue the universe elsewhere.
