I would like to use this already exsisting thread to ask a question about the performance of the GeForce 6600 GT in Half-life 2.

Can any one tell me how the 6600GT performce in HL2, and does it match/beat the performance of the Radeon 9800PRO?

ive heard and seen benchmarks of it beating the 9800 pro, but its not by a significant amount i dont think

I have the 6600gt and HL2 and Counter Strike run awesome with everything maxed. It does perform better than the 9800 pro and it can even out perform the XT in some instances. I would highly recomend it over the 9800pro, however if you already own a 9800 pro, I would recomend you stick with it because you won't notice much a difference aside from the shader model 3.

I have read some benchmarks to and it's right that the 6600GT wins in every test!

Right now I ame using a Radeon 9500PRO and I don't know if I should get a 6600GT or 9800PRO - I ame not sure because I have read a lot about Radeon cards performing much better than nVidia cards in HL2 (and thats the game i'm upgrading for).

Its the 6600gt that has SM3. I would definetly get it over the 9800 pro. BTW duffers, you should get the 6600gt too.
