im wondering if anyone knew a company that offers this kind of service.

no-ip.com offers free subdomain names with a little app you download that syncs your subdomain with your IP. it works great!

BUT im looking to pay for a full domain(ie halflife2.net) but get the same service(redirect to my ip). is this possible? if so, where can I go to accomplish this?

ive visited some webshosting sites that have great deals, but they keep your stuff on their server.

no one knows eh? well i found a place, and for very cheap too.

cant you just set DNS to resolve to your ip?

no..

what i was looking for was a place to register a domain, like kickmeintheballs.com. and then i needed a place that supports dynamic DNS for dynamic IPs, then you get a little application that can run as a service and syncs your ip with your domain name when needed.
