need a lead on a 3d software

my dad is a sculpter and he wants to make a head from a picture of this man we have but the picture is of the guy head on, and he would also like the sides, he was wondering if there was a software that would take a photo like that and automatically model the sides and back. i dont think there is but if you guys know of anything could you give me the name. thanks

If by automatic you mean not automatic then yes there are plenty!

no you would need to model the head with a virtual wireframe
then make a full 360 degree by 360 degree image of the man's head
then map that image onto the wireframe using 3dsmax or xsi (both of which are ludicrously expensive but trial versions exist)

all of the above involves alot of work and learning
