Yeah. The two I have now are both crap. One (a Netgear) only gives me 3mbps instead of my full 5mbps and the other (a Linksys) drops my internet every two minutes (no sarcasm). So I need some advice on a new cable router. Personal experience with the router is preferable; you'll all probably suggest your own anyway. Keep it under $70 if possible.

EDIT: Seeing Cole's response, I'm looking for a wired router. No need for a wireless at this time.

I like some of Linksys newer ones. They've done great for me. Especially for all my Wireless stuff.

Linksys WRT54G doing the job for me :D But it's kind of old.

I dunno, get a new linksys :\

Get Linksys N-type with signal enhancer. This's the one I currently use and happy with. Configuration is reversible and will work with B and G type adapters.

Learn to read TBH.

Anyway, wireless routers are cheaper that wired routers alot of the time now. I have a belkin wireless g...cost $45, I get reception throughout the house, the only problem with it is related to the linksys router that it's hooked up to in another part of the house.

Linksys sucks, Netgear is good, Belkin is good.

Which linksys?

If it's a WRT54G, and below version/model 5 I believe, you can load a bunch of third party linux based firmwares that really seem to eliminate all previous problems.

Don't get wireless. It's fast for general use but if you wanna put a bullet in the enemy's head faster than he does to you, your gonna lose. It makes sense too because the signal has to travel through thin air which is a poor median to travel through. Copper though conducts electricity better, fiber optic material with data transfer, you get the idea. :P

Lies, my comp is wireless yet I can still kick plenty of ass.

WRT54G...I get a constant 10mbps ethernet on it, and the two laptops in my house occasionally loose connection, but not for long or very often....
