Im going to get a new pc soon, and I can't really decide if I should go for the

Athlon 64 FX-53 or Athlon 64 3400+

which do you think I should go for, heres the rest of my specs

FOR FX53
Athlon 64 FX-53 (of course)
1GB DDR400 Kingston Hyper X
Gigabyte X800XTPE
160GB Serial ATA HDD
Antec P160 w/ 550 Watt True Power supply
Asus A8V Motherboard
XP PRO

or
'
3400+ w/ different mobo, same everthing else

Is there a noticable difference between the two, if so how much?

Here and here is the performance difference with about $400 difference in price.

ur deciding between two really big price gaps. if u have the money, i whole heartily recommend the fx-53...as it is the sweetest rig ive ever been on.

I cannot view your list.
You should 'save cart to wish list' and publish the wish list. Then you can link it.

Also, since I'm getting the mobile chip, does it have a heatspreader, I'm a bit nervous puting it on if theres no heatspreader (:

Ive made 1 rig already just never an AMD one.

Does MSI's bios even support/recognize moble chips? Link
Didin't notice it was a DTR chip.

Does this motherboard support the mobile amd64 cpu ?

A. Official answer is yes, however there are currently some quirks:
Max. vcore in bios seems to be 0.9v (1.25 with clockgen, see overclocking section for link)
Keep in mind that you might need some workaround if you wish to mount a heatsink on this cpu.
Multiplier above 6,5(clockgen) seems to result in system-shutdown, may be related to the "temperature reported wrong" problem ?

At first i couldnt, but when i really started to test the rig with some crazy shit i noticed how fast it is. I mean for christs sake i run counter-strike and far cry at the same time. i alt tab out of cs between rounds to play far cry lol its great. plus aim and kazaa and all that all at once without losing any performance.
